I'm glad to be joining in with this thread, I love reading it, all you ladies are great :-) I just did a big shop online with asda (free delivery) and ordered lots of ingredients for pate, houmous, no knead bread and hobnobs :-) Couldnt think what to do with the step daughter that wasnt really expensive this month, so we're going strawbery picking and then I'm going to make jam with the strawberrys and its just down the road so we can walk :-) Have no idea what it costs nowadays...havent been for about 15 years??!!! x x x

Our budget flew out the window when I threw my back out.... hubby doesn't do much in the kitchen, and though he tries hard with instruction it's hard to instruct from flat on your back. Had a tasty cheesey egg on toast yesterday, but last night was KFC (first one in over 10 years!!). I'm upright today so it should be easier to instruct (but have taken Valium, stronger painkillers and brufen as intructed, so am a few slices short of a full loaf).
Any suggestions gratefully recieved for easy meals.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I used to put a teaspoon of Marmite into a mug with boiling water, and then drink that -- but these days only tend to do it when I hit the end of a jar, and do it by adding hot water (cautiously) to the jar, stirring, popping the lid on (loosely) and leaving for a few mins, then pouring into a mug. I believe Marmite is vegetarian.....
You can also add this liquid to gravy or even cheese sause or soup for a bit of flavour.
I was at the house of an aquaintance last week and they threw a marmite jar that had enough for at least 8 pieces of toast (without having to scrape much!!) and then for using as flavour for something else and I had to hold me tounge lol..."Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -

motherkitty wrote: »hi procrastinator. Windfalls are fine to use. You can just cut out the bits that have gone a bit manky or that the bugs/birds have got at. Just have a look at them. Annoyingly usually one side is fine and the other has started to turn rotten or has been nibbled at but they will be fine to use if you cut that bit off. My SIL and I found a tree a couple of years ago and used quite lot of the windfalls and we are still alive and kicking!
