In a lot of areas the tapwater does taste c**p as you put it - but sometimes it can be redeemed by putting some of it into a bottle and leaving it in the fridge to chill for a few hours - worth a try. A person from the local water firm I am with suggested doing this too - as it deals with the awful taste of chlorine in a lot of water supplies. Give it a go.
Sorry to post twice but was just catching up on the thread, it's such a busy one and I HATE to miss anything!!
So - like someone else suggested, for something else to drink, I would also suggest Redbush/Roobidos tea. It's caffeine free and has a great smokey flavour. I have it without milk. Green tea is also delicious and no caffiene there either. I buy Clipper organic.
We are lucky down here the tap water tastes really nice, so I drink a lot of that. And as for hot water and lemon, well my mother swears by it first thing in the morning. She says it cleanses the system and sets her up for the day. As she looks about 10 yrs younger than she is, maybe there is something in that!!To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Weezl not surprised that you got a takeaway...interested as to whether you actually like it as when I last had one it didnt taste as nice as I remembered it plus spent half the time tutting about the cost!! How times have changed!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Ooh well...our Weezl ...welcome back and we wont expect you to do any "Hail Martins" re the cost of that takeaway - sometimes needs must. Me - I cant say owt - have finally given up hope of persuading (kicking/shoving!) myself into decorating a coupla rooms in my house and am just going to throw a cheque at a decorator to do it for me (my excuse is that - being an old house - theres more to the decoration than just plain painting it, theres some specific "old house" preparation work that needs doing first). And then - wouldnt you know it.....S**ds Law.....but a mysterious little puddle keeps appearing on the floor in the vicinity of my fridge/freezer - so will be investigating more closely today. Nasty visions of having to buy a new one though are floating through my mind - and the only consoling thought to (whoops!) thought of a mini-overdraft appearing again temporarily (still not got as far as having any savings yet:eek: ) is that at least it would be A+ rated - so help to save on fuel bills. The one I have my eye on, if needs be, says it uses 259 Kwh per year (was surprised to see that even amongst ones on the same energy rating that there is variation in how much they say they use). So - just hoping its a blocked little drainage channel or summat thats the problem and one quick swipe later - my fridge/freezer sorted (fingers crossed!).0

Morning all
Well Im up bright and early - both boys are awake and already arguign over a power ranger toy of some sort - they are both lucky to still be breathing the amount of grief they gave me yesterday - eventually i had to go and hide in teh bath for 45 minutes  so i could literally get out and shove them in bed.
Drinks wise i really must stop drinking so much milk - am not convinced its doing any good for me. So im going onto water/juice today and will be sticking with that all day i think. I did buy some lemons yesterday too and a little fridge jug (reduced in wilkos homeware sale down to 80p) so will put that in there this morning. I heard it is a good detox and mentioned it to my mum adn she said she drinks this before bed so cant be too bad and if anythign will help with vit C levels (am i right in thinking that i could do this with lemon and orange and it would be ok for vit c levels too?).
Will make sure to check out those iron food links too posted by.......um..........er.............MOANY! (i found it) Am off to make some veggie soup today too but jsut the basic 0 point ww one - im heavier thani should be - im 5'5/6 and i weigh.............13st 10lbs! :eek: there i said it - shame over. So it has to start coming down. 7 days caffeine free still..............
Weezl - i think we can forgive you for your takeaway - after 4 days decorating i think you need it to be honest - enjoy your space whilst you can before your new lodgers move in.
Must have a go at the no knead bread too at some point - recipe/linkie anyone - wsnt sure if it was this thread or the last one!Time to find me again0 -
Weezl, definitely no worries about dipping into your fun budget for a takeaway. The last thing on your mind will be spending a shedload of time cooking something in this heat and especially when you've been so active ((hugs)) you deserve it!
The cut-out-caffeine thing has, for me, been a bit of a non-starter, although I have cut down drastically. One little coup for me yesterday though was that I took my OH around Lidl's and he's suggested to me that we go there next for our weekly shop as it looks better than our local supermarket! (Plus, I think the 29p bar of chocolate he had a square of helped to convince)
Yesterday was quite a low-spend day (food-wise, anyway. I did hit the sales for some new office wear for w**k) We had some burgers I'd homemade for lunch on a couple of rolls and with a little grated cheese, and then in the evening we were invited out to a barbecue! It was lovely.
My next challenge is to cook a meal that DOES work out really cheap so I can feel useful0 -
good to see you back weezl,of course you deserve a treat especially after 4 days of DIY in this heat. :beer:0

sammy-kaye, you asked for the recipe for the no-knead bread.....if you look on the first page of the thread, weezl has done an index for all the recipes. The no knead bread is there under "breads, bagels, baps, and baguettes"
HTH0 -

Oh my GOD!!! We had a fire alarm at half three this morning:eek: , some morons leaving the other block thought it'd be funny apparently, but it got stuck so we where alarming for a good 20mins. At least it finally stopped, though never really got back to sleep properley.
Weezl, have no fear we will not desert you!!! I've managed to have a very s**t mse weekend, I've got it off and the weather gorgeous so so far we've managed to have lunch and tea out yesterday (chippy and Nandos respectivley) as well as a trip to cinema including sweeties, and today we've got bowling (which'll prolly include tea) tonight. Although have to say, he's paying for it all so technically I'm moneysaving my own money....
On the plus side we got the house tidyed yesterday so heres hoping we can keep it up.Now MARRIED!11/09/100 -
Well hi Weezl, glad to see you back..and good that you have a fun budget..i think you definately need the odd thing every now and then..otherwise life would get very stale.
I have been making bean curries..so air very stale in our house at the moment *cough*Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
