Yes nothing from flogas on extra delivery charges.0

I've been with Flogas for 2 years. It was 40p for 1 year then it rose to 55p now 66p. The renewal is 78p fixed for a year.
Avanti is 49p (plus deliveries £35 per go) fixed for 2 years. I estimate deliveries every 600 litres so that's equivalent of 55p. Still less than my existing price with Flogas!

Hi there,
I am looking for thoughts on how best to proceed. We moved into a property a couple of months ago.
It is supplied via LPG overground tank. The current supplier is Calor but we have not yet entered into a contract as I was hoping to explore options with other suppliers.
However, the existing tank location does not meet regulations. Calor are funding the movement of the tank (given age of existing tank) to underground (although we need to find someone to dig the hole to spec. supplied by Calor as well as move the external gas supply). We are in the process of doing that.
I am not sure whether to fix a price now with Calor (given price increases we are seeing) or wait until the tank move is done (likely September) and then negotiate then with others.
Any thoughts or ideas on how best to manage this welcome!0 -
Can I confirm that Calor are fitting an underground tank for you without getting you to sign a 2 year supply agreement first?
The underground tank will be a different tank to the one you have as above/underground tanks are not the same type.0 -

My thoughts above as well.0

Totally agree. Check calor out & ask them if there is a fixed price per litre for the next 2 years & ask a few others. But if they are installing free, That's a good £1000-1500 saving. & i cant see them doing that without a contract. It may even be longer than 2 years. I have an underground tank & they nearly got funny with connecting me up as the spoils from the hole we dug out were to close to the edge of the hole for the tank. But we got around it with tea & bacon sandwiches.0

Great thanks all. Yes they've offered me 55p per litre fixed for 1 year but variable for the second year (although there's a limit on how much it will rise). Ideally I would have wanted fixed for 2 years but they don't seem to offer it.
We've not been asked to sign the contract - but I imagine it's coming. The downside is that although Calor will install for free we are being quoted £4.5k to dig the hole, trench and move the gas connection! Needless to say I'm getting other quotes.
Thanks all for the advice, it's really helpful.0 -
I had a similar situation with Calor a few years ago. It turned out that my tank was under a 11kV power line that crosses our garden.
Calor had to move the tank and mole in about 50m of pipework under the garden. I had to provide a new concrete base, but they did (and paid for) the rest. I had to sign a new 2 year contract but they then renaged on the max price increase in year two.
This enabled me to break the contract and go elsewhere. I am now with my independent local supplier whose depot is only 4 miles away and currently charges me 38ppl and no contract.1 -
Just in the process of buying a property with Calor gas tank in the back garden for LPG heating. Can anyone tell me what my options are? Presume they'll be some gas in the tank on exchange. Will I have to stick with Calor as it's their tank? or can I switch to another supplier? If I switch what happens tank wise ? Thank you for any info as I have absolutely no experience of being off grid . The house is near Porthmadog, North Wales0
