Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

I would get written conformation on that. But if correct you are on a winner. Many tanks are around 2200lt but can only be filled to 80% to allow for gas expansion. If you are sure on the 70%, that equates to around 1540Lt @ lets say 50p per lt = £770.00.Woggle said:
Thanks - we did, yes. I don't quite understand why (although I'm not complaining!) but we just need to pay the rental for the tank. What is in the tank is ours and we don't need to pay anyone for it. We only need to enter a contract when we need to fill up the tank - and then will setup a payment arrangement at that stage.Sorting_Hat said:Did you get a resolution on who owns the gas your using? Is the lpg firm going to go after the prev tenant? The LL?
Make sure any figures are for the whole package.
Some firms quote a price but don't mention that's just the gas price and additional operating costs are on top.
I'm slightly worried something will come out once we've moved in, but for now it seems I've got a free 70% tank worth of LPG!
I wish i had that deal. But get conformation & even a contract as that free bonus will pay for the price rises for a few years.

I will have to renegotiate price with flogas over the next month or so when my contract ends. What sort of price should I aim to get?0

I'm now on a metered supply with a 2 year contract at 38ppl which has just come to an end. I received a letter yesterday informing me that from 22nd June the new price will be 41ppl. No mention of length of new contract (which someone else negotiates on behalf of the estate). Sounds reasonable to me.1

Many thanks , I agree 41ppl looks a good price. Let’s hope I am as successful!
I will let everyone know how I get on!0 -
I got signed up with Flogas on a 2 year contract just before all these price hikes came in at 41ppl. If you got the same & its fixed. "SMILE". I was also lucky that my electric supplier went bankrupt & got a fixed 2 year contract with EON at about the same time. Hate to see what my hike will be in about 20 months. lolBadger04 said:Many thanks , I agree 41ppl looks a good price. Let’s hope I am as successful!

Central heating oil quote today
1000 litres £913.50 95p per litre
with vat £1004.85
ouch as it’s a big bill0 -
Flogas just quoted 60p/l but if I signed up to a 2 year deal within 14 days, they'd give me an exclusive deal of 55p/l at a variable rate.Badger04 said:I will have to renegotiate price with flogas over the next month or so when my contract ends. What sort of price should I aim to get?
Given they are now also charging £50 per delivery (Market Volatility Charge) and have upped my price from 37p/l in March to 52p/l in May and now higher still for the future, I'm off elsewhere. Already have fixed price offers of 51p/l.1 -
We were paying 38ppl with Avantigas. We've just had a letter saying they are adding 17ppl so 55ppl from next delivery. Anyone got any intel on a better deal and if so where? 51ppl looks good right now!

You can try Flogas as some have said they got it for 41p. But also worth looking at some of the independent sellers as they can sometimes get a better deal. Even better than you or I going direct to Flogas. But you hear about some getting better deals, but don't say how much they buy. I use about 2000lt a year & I got 20 months left at 41ppl. But if your using 4000lt a year, you may get a better deal2

I don’t know whether this represents a change in policy, but the Competition and Markets Authority has issued advice on switching bulk LPG gas suppliers which says you are entitled to change supplier during your two-year exclusive contract (as well as after the contract).
There is also a spreadsheet for calculating the transfer price for domestic LPG tanks.
These may have something to do with a letter that the CMA has sent to LPG supplier BDS Fuels accusing it of breaching the Domestic Bulk LPG Market Investigation Order in two ways - first, failing to to limit the exclusivity period in contracts to 24 months, and second, failing to provide important information to 757 of its customers when providing them with contracts.
The Sun has reported on the CMA investigation.
PS I originally included links to the various documents but MSE won’t let me post them because I apparently haven’t been signed up for long enough (I registered last October). You can find the links by searching Google News and The Sun Web site for “LPG”. Perhaps someone who has been registered longer could post the links.1
