Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

It would seem that LPG Save only ever quote Flogas although they will generally be slightly cheaper....see lots of previous posts on this forum and the links between Directors ex-Directors etc.0

I've never used a blog site in my life but thought it might be useful to share a recent experience with a problem on lpg bulk pricing.
In the second year of my contract I received a price increase of 8.04 pence per litre in March, followed by a further increase of 6.3 pence per litre in October. I queried this with Avanti who claimed a part of both increases was due to an increase in their overheads (although they claimed to have made economies) in addition to the increase in the lpg cost. They would not move on the complaint.
I followed the correct procedures & reported Avanti to UtilitiesADR. LPG is not covered by Ofgem.
A gentleman from Avanti's complaints department contacted me & I now have a price of 38 pence per litre as opposed to 46.34 pence per litre!
I have to say it is nice to see that there's some feedback on here about the ombudsman - though actually is the dispute resolution .
I have often wondered if anyone has had experience but I think due to the small numbers of lpg customers on here - you rarely hear anything! Indeed it was suggested a while back on here that they may be using NDA's hence why none ever heard anything!
Congratulation mrw2222 for getting Avanti sorted - seems like the ADR can be used against them and they do respond! I'll be keeping it in my back pocket should I have any run ins - having just dodged a tricky situation with flogas!0 -
Just had a letter from Flogas offering me a new direct contract (I'm currently buying from them via Woldlink) at 45ppl, an offer which I won't be taking up.
Looks like the days of very competitive LPG on the older deal through Woldlink are over, as they are now offering a standard contract through Avanti.0 -
Received the same letter as thozza today at the same price level, effective from 1st February 2020. This would represent around a 50% price increase over the current Woldlink monthly pricing schedule delivered by FLOGAS
The patronising letter from FLOGAS states "to make things the best we can for our FLO family, sometimes we have to ask you for a little bit more. Well, I certainly have no wish to be a part of their "family" and will be voting with my feet.
For information, the pricing for January on the Woldlink monthly pricing schedule is 32.98 ppl + 5% VAT, up just over 1ppl from the December 2019 figure. Looks like a top up from FLOGAS before 1st February and see what Woldlink can offer from Avanti or alternative suppliers in the future.0 -
My local independent has just put his price up to 33ppl. That's the first increase of the 30ppl price in nearly 5 years.1

Although you are outside the 2 year exclusivity period of the contract, you (and Flogas) are still bound by the contract terms and conditions and therefore you can within 2 weeks of receiving the notice (I received my copy today) give them a minimum of 42 days notice of termination and during this time, the price cannot be increased.
This is specified in clause 5.9 of your contract. If Flogas argue that you are out of contract then refer them to the following clause:3.1 The supply of LPG to you shall commence on the Commencement Date and shall run for an initial period of two years from the Commencement Date (the “Exclusivity Period”). Following the end of the Exclusivity Period the Agreement shall continue unless or until it is terminated by either party under the terms of the Agreement. Please note that the period of the Agreement as set out above is subject to any early termination of the Agreement in accordance with its terms (as set out in clause 8).
Please also note your right to switch suppliers at the end of the Exclusivity Period (or otherwise on earlier termination of the Agreement) as set out in clause 7.0 -
Hi, forum newbie here. I was wondering if there was anyone on here associated with a large housing estate using communal LPG who has experience good or bad of switching supplier? I’d be grateful for any tips/feedback.0

I’d be grateful for any tips/feedback.Well first of all of course you have to have control of the supplier negotiation and agreements.Having done that you are like any of the others here - see previous posts - who have agreed a contract, except you have more buying clout than most:- Shop around and don't be afraid to tell people they must do better. You should be aiming for 30p/l or thereabouts- include Woldlink and similar suppliers who don't show up on normal searches. If you give a location someone here may be able to help- get quotes that are as fixed as possible. What can legally happen in year 2 of a 2 year contract has been a cause of much irritation, in the past .. if they say max 3p increase in year 2 make sure it really is, unlike my contract :-)- read every clause of the contract before you sign it. Don't be afraid to say that you have signed it, but have deleted clause 6.4a .. or whatever. They want your business!Good luck, and DO let us know how you get on. And remember, most of those involved in the LPG industry are decent people but this does not necessarily include sales staff. They have been trained to sell.. have you been trained to buy? Just because they sound friendly, does NOT mean they really are.. be polite but firmJerryIf what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..1

Bulk tank you will be tied into a two year contract with any supplier, so choose carefully. Ring around to get prices. There are no price comparison sites for LPG- its a mess :-(
