Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

It's that biennial round of persuading my current supplier, Calor, that they can indeed offer me a better deal than their first renewal offer. So with a deep breath I hit the phones. We are based near Gloucester and all prices ex VAT
Calor
To pre-empt the Renewal letter from Calor for our contract expiring 11/8 I phoned them first. 35p litre 2 year contract, and with a little pushing would fix for first year. Told them I knew I could get a price starting with a '2', but without any details they would not budge.
So called around and these were the deals offered without any haggling.
Cardiff Gas
35p/litre, no contract, £76.65 annual tank
Lister
29p/litre 12 months thereafter variable, 2 year contract, £40 annual tank
Countrywide
28p/litre 12 months thereafter variable but 3 1/2p cap, 2 year contract, £60 annual tank
Avanti
29p/litre 12 months £150 account credit, thereafter variable, 2 year contract, £66 annual tank
Callow Gas
26p/litre for first fill, rest of year one max 28p/litre; Year 2 cap at 30p/litre, 2 year contract, £48 annual tank.
Needless to say, when I contacted Calor they were able to match this last offer from Callow.
I may go back to Callow and see if they can improve on this, but Calor have made it clear they will offer only one price match.
I have to say how understanding all the other suppliers were given that they were well aware Calor were likely to match any offer they were able to make. I actually have no beef with Calor, other than this ridiculous nonsense every couple of years. They have never so far let us down on delivery in spite of weather on a number of occasions, but they are difficult to love!0 -
Woldlink's current offer is 27.95 ppl but with £250.00 of free gas on sign up. They are two year contract but this seems to be the norm across all suppliers. The main difference is that they review the gas price every 6 months and it dropped from 29.95 ppl March down to 27.95ppl for the next 6 months. I know that there is the chance that it will go back up again at the next fix but you get nearly a months notice before the price change so if it looks like it might rise you can get your order in or if its coming down, hold off ordering.
I calculated the £250.00 of free gas in to pence per litre savings, I use about 2000 litres a year so over my contract 4000 Litres meaning I save 6.25ppl off every litre I purchase for the rest of my contract.
27.95ppl minus 6.25ppl means my LPG costs 21.70 pence per litre

Hi,
My contract is based on the current ANSI agreed price as published in the Petroleum Argus and it's recently been increased by 2p due to an increase in the ANSI price.
Does anyone have access to the ANSI price for the last 6 months please? I'd like to be an informed customer (wouldn't we all!) so that I can cross check what me supplier is telling me.
Thanks0 -
Hate LPG publishes regular graphs of LPG prices which include the ANSI price adjusted to Sterling, the last post was 2630:

which gives pricing to March 2016.
Who is your supplier and what price are they charging currently?0 -

I do so agree. I have been wrestling with Calor for twenty years, much of it at grossly inflated pricing. But no more!
I got my usual renewal letter, which offered me £100 of free gas and 38p/l (no mention of how long a fix etc). I have now agreed to move to Woldlink at the prices quoted above .. 27.95p/l + £250 of free gas.
I did think I ought to phone Calor, having been with them so long; I got through to some spotty youth who only dealt with installations, waited ten minutes for transfer to sales and then gave up. They have had their chance, and I thought it only fair to give Woldlink, who were great on the phone, their chance.
We shall see!If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..0 -
Thanks,
It's with LPG Home Heat and we are currently paying 20p per litre including VAT. We're on a metered estate and I'm fairly confident that we are being treated reasonably but it would be useful to have the info about the ASNI so that I can be an informed customer.0 -
The August price from Woldlink sees a dip to 21.65ppl + 5% VAT. Good hunting!0
