    Hi All,

What a great forum this is. I've been a little negligent and have not been searching the best LPG prices. I ran out of contract around 2 years ago, FloGas did not contact me to tell me the contract was up but continued to bill me for 56ppl. After my last fill up I rang and was offered 52ppl on a 2 year contract. I researched this and called back telling them of other offers. After further chases they are now offering me 29ppl and a max increase in year 2 of 4ppl. After arguing they are also offering £200 credit. I believe the offer is good enough going forward as the difference elsewhere is minimal, my main question is whether others have pushed for and been given a refund based on being ripped off. Appreciate I should have been more on the ball but the difference is price is ridiculous. I have submitted a complain and threatened to write to the national press.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry about, but not surprised by, the rip-off by Flogas. Calor do the same. Anyway about Flogas please check this out - where Flogas paid out compensation: http://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/feb/29/flogas-lpg-price-cuts

You might like to comment on Flogas Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/flogasbritain ...Maybe even on their post of April 13 about recommending a friend. You'll be doing that?

BTW Flogas phoned me out of the blue last week (they had taken over my former supplier, BP, so dug out my old records) and though I'm not out of contract said they'd probably offer me, using just under 2,500 l a year, around 30ppl with max increase of 3 1/2 ppl in yr2 with £63 rental above ground, £84 underground.

Please post all the offers you've had (and the first bit of your postcode or nearest town).
    ..
  • Thanks for the reply, prices I have received in the LE67 arera based on 3000 litres per year are:

    All 24 months contracts:

Flogas (eventually) 29ppl for first 12 months, second year capped to a maximum 4p increase. £200 credit of which £50 was compensatio.
Avanti - 29ppl fixed for whole 24 months
Calor 28ppl for first 12 months.
Extra fuel 27.5 ppl for 12 months. Max 4p increase in year 2.

I'll let you know how I get on when Flogas respond to my complaint.

    £50 compensation?

    HA HA!
  • I just renewed my 2 year contract with Flogas.
After much negotiations they agreed to 28.25ppl for the first year.
Second year capped to a maximum of 3p increase - so no more than 31.25ppl.
    £250 free gas
£60 annual standing charge for 2 years.

I have also put in a complaint about being overcharged for the past 12 months and I await their reply

    Hi Harpsdale

Any chance that you can post the contract terms relating to the price rise on here. Many people are quoting a limit on the second year price increase and I am interested to see if this is actually a contractual limit or, as has been the case historically, the maximum that can be applied without allowing you to exit the contract.

    Hi

It has been suggested I post a quote I recently got from AvantiGas for a new install here.

Free overground tank install or free underground install if I dig hole / trench and lay slab (subject to a site survey). Underground would normally be £500 if they have to do the work.

Standing charge is £66 p/a overground and £110 p/a underground.

27 pence per litre fixed for the whole 2 year term of contract (subject to 5% VAT).

No mention of free gas at the start, but this is the first quote I have had. So hoping for a better deal when I start contacting the suppliers.

Sounds like a good deal. Which part of the country are you in and what is your expected usage?

Yeah it sounded good to me too having read a lot of horror stories about LPG contracts etc. I live in North Devon. This is our first house so not sure of our usage. Although I suspect it will be less than 2000l over a year as there is only 2 of us, we will have a log fire (free logs) in open plan downstairs and combi boiler mainly for hot water and gas hob for cooking.
  • Hi,

New to buying my LPG and very glad to have found this forum.

-Calor just offered me a new contract for 37 ppl, with around 65£ / year fee
    - Woldlink offered me 27 ppl / 60£ / year fee and 250£ free gas on first order.

Does anyone currently have better offers / pricing than 27ppl?

    Thanks

Just about to move into an older three bedroom cottage in rural Aberdeenshire that has an older LPG boiler setup, and an Oil tank that feeds an AGA onits own.

So......I am resigned to the fact a new combi condensing boiler is required, around £2k from what I can see on WHICH. But the question is Oil or stick with LPG ?????

    HELP.....!!!!
