Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

Looking for new LPG supplier, I used to have a good deal that I'd worked hard to get but just discovered I'm now being ripped off (my opinion) at 58.9p.
I found what looks like a few new suppliers like Premierlpg and lpg-solutions does anyone have any experience of these? I'd always stuck to flogas, avanti, shell and calor in the past.
A change is coming in the new year for me!
And a piece of info, I had an EPC done on my house recently. It came out lower than I expected due, according to the EPC surveyor, to having LPG. Not the efficiency of LPG but the fact that it is transported by road, hence poor transport profile for CO2!
I'm with Premier gas, would recommend them to everyone in their area. Sensible pricing policy, easy switch over to them. My name tells you who i used to be with.............never again.0 -
At present I am with Calor paying 52p per litre, contract expires in February 2014. I live a few miles outside Kelso in the Scottish Borders, and have just found about a new Community Council Scheme set up by Crailing Eckford and Nisbet Community Council and to those outside a five mile radius of their boundary. The Community Council established the scheme with MacGas . The rate is 38p , fixed for 12 months, thereafter not more than 2.5p increase every six months. Also free gas worth £75 to new customers. Existing MacGas people can also join the scheme.
I am waiting for the paperwork to arrive. I am sure with offers like this more Community Councils should do the same. Its one great saving for sure. Cost is worked out by delivery charges, Depot at Swinton 26 miles away therefore costs are kept down.0 -
I was with Flogas which is now Macgas. I had a letter telling me prices would increase by 3ppl on 4th November. That took my price to 49ppl. Just got a letter yesterday saying they are increasing it by another 2.5ppl.
They say this relates to increases in wholesale prices. Isn't it odd that when wholesale prices decrease, they don't pass it on to their customers?
Was originally with BP who did a top-up service which spread the cost a bit. Macgas didn't top up when the cold weather started so I was down to less than 5% last week. 839 litres delivered. I'm a pensioner in an old farmhouse and the Aga keeps the kitchen warm as well as cooking. I can't afford to turn on the central heating and only have the water heater on an hour a day. Thank goodness for my coal fires and extra layers of clothes.
I can't cut down on usage any further. Macgas say they send deliveries according to usage they were given by Flogas and I wasn't due a delivery till 25th December. (Bet they'd have come out that day, eh?) Can't afford the bills, can't reduce consumption. What can I do? Only other supplier is BP.

Hi Fourmerk
Sorry to hear they have put the price up again. I had a quick google and found this. Can't tell if they all do LPG but some do.

Worth a ring to check ?
Also I hope you don't mind me saying are you claiming all the benefits that you maybe entitled to. Getting older can mean aches and pains. trouble walking, getting upstairs.....many people out there are eligible for attendance allowance and don't even know it. I'm hoping you're running around like a jack rabbit but if you're not it's worth looking into.0 -

It may not be much help at present but when your 2 yr contract is up I think you have a range of suppliers. When I put a Stirling postcode in the UK LPG supplier search I got Mac Gas (i.e. Flogas and former BP), Avanti Gas, Calor, J Gas and Gleaner Oils.
But also Alba Gas, an independent which does not seem to be a member of UKLPG, says it supplies the whole of Scotland - see http://albagaslpgstirling.co.uk/ A forum member called dinnjo uses them.0 -
I moved into my new home 3 months ago and I have a large propane tank in the garden. It only serves the oven now and there's really no need for it, but in any case, the previous owners paid approx £45pa rental. Carvers in Wolverhampton want to charge me £175pa because I'm a new customer!? They won't budge on this and because of new brilliant EU regs about where a new tank could be sited by a competitor (Calor) I can't change suppliers. The new tank would essentially have to be placed bang in the middle of my garden to avoid being near just about anything. i have considered changing to smaller tanks, but the propane tank is half full, so the cost of changing over now would be around £500 so it doesn't make sense to change. Looks like I'll have to stomach the rip-off £175pa for the £25 worth of gas I use each year. Robbers.0

Newbie here, coming up to the end of my contract with Calor at 56.4p a litre + vat. Armed with this site got them to offer 48p + vat and £150 credit. Fixed for 1 year.
From the waleslpg site (LPGUK)cheapest can be 42.5p + vat. I dont know whether that would be for 1 year 2 year etc.
Dont want to go flogas after the review here. Any ideas. If I filled in the form on LPGUK and sent if off would the price go up etc? Deepest West Wales here.0 -

Not quite - it's not because you're a new customer (Calor have installed a new tank for us this year, and are charging us £50/yr rental for it) but because you're a new customer who won't ever be buying any gas from them, yet expects them to own, maintain and certify the tank....because of new brilliant EU regs
...2008 UKLPG regs, with the most recent actual legislation changes behind it being DSEAR 2002...about where a new tank could be sited by a competitor (Calor) I can't change suppliers.
Even ignoring the location, what company would want to buy the tank from the old supplier, maintain it, certify it, etc etc - with no gas sale in prospect?i have considered changing to smaller tanks, but the propane tank is half full, so the cost of changing over now would be around £500 so it doesn't make sense to change.
If you get the tank uplifted, they should buy the contents back off you, albeit at a discounted price (although you didn't pay for them in the first place, of course). That may well be your best solution.0 -

I agree with Adrian C, Why would you expect them to maintain and test a tank for which you admit wont use hardly any gas? If it bothers you so much let them have the tank back and fit an electric cooker. Dont expect money back for the gas as it costs as much to get it out as its worth usually.0 -
