Result of my ringaround for supply to a CV47 area based on my annual usage of 6000 litres incorporating any standing charges etc...

    Calor - £2352*
    Flogas - £2210
    Shell - £2205
    Lister - £2132
    Extra Fuel - £2066
    Extra Fuel - £1624** (25.77ppl + VAT)

    * Incorporates the first half of the £100 signing on cashback.
** Is based upon me buying and owning the tank off of my existing supplier at a cost of anything between £300 and £750, plus 10 yearly testing. And the gas is actually delivered by Flogas!

I'm going to go for the buy my own tank route as I'm happy to pay as and when needed for any maintenance or repairs out of the money I save by being able to access market pricing.

Had a letter out of the blue from Flogas yesterday - I was on 45ppl but they have reduced this to 35ppl as from 20 May. Don't know if others have had a similar letter?

This is for a CV47 postcode and we use about 2000 litres - but have been trying to cut back on usage due to the cost.

Will still ring round to see what the others are offering when our 2 years with Flogas is up in July.

Might be interested in owning our tank - but it is underground and have had to call out Flogas on a couple of occasions due to leaks - so may stay renting the tank just for peace of mind for emergency call-outs.

C'mon lets work it in them they have been robbing us for years - Flogas were charging me 50ppl until the market was opened!!!:j

Anybody seen any better offers please?

Flo-gas has offered the company I work for 0.2925 + vat per litre equates to approx 0.3441 per litre. Not bad considering BP wouldn't budge on charging us 0.3575 per litre plus vat. Flogas will install a new tank and do roaming fill up service. Yippee! might end the winters spent in fingerless gloves.

I believe the rules on LPG have changed IE from April you can only have a 2 year contract and if you change suppliers the new suppliers buys the tank of the old supplier for £800 minus depreciation is this right??
I live In Lincolnshire near Louth and there only appears to be 2 suppliers. I did get them to compete on price and got them down a bit (September 2007) to about 27p but it is now 40p a litre and has not come down at all although to be fair it was much slower than oil going up. But as the oil market price is rising again I doubt that we will see any drop in price.
Does anyone know of another supplier in this area other than flogas and Calor. Also what are other people paying for there gas per litre???? And what is the cost of your tank rental? mine is 16.4p a day + VAT at 5% (17.22p)
As LPG is rural thing may I suggest to people that they think about a wood burner NOT as a replacement for LPG but something to run in conjunction. If the fireplace has nothing in it put a wood burner in it. Mine does not run the central heating it just heats the sitting room but I leave the doors open (2 bed bungalow) and it keeps the rest the house warm enough for me with the central heating switched on occasionally. Note this cost me £2000 £700 for stove (can pay as little as £500 for an equally good stove) £1000 for fitting (proper Hetas registered fitter) and chainsaws etc brought it up to about £2000. Of course the cost of wood is all important, for me it is virtually nothing AND no I wont tell you where I get it from.
One last thing you may find useful a litre of oil gives you 10.3 kilowatts and a litre of LPG is equal to 7.1 kilowatts and if you want to compare natural gas its 10.9 kilowatts per m3. JB
There is an aid to CHANGING LPG SUPPLIERS note it is ON the internet site for Calor gas.

Just found a new supplier in my area and they also supply
    Yorkshire
    Humberside
    Nottinghamshire
    Lincolnshire
There phone number is 01302 328100 and they are called discount gas supplies. You may find it diffcult on the internet to find them (i cannot give the link as I am newbie) becouse of the name but if you remove the spaces and add .co and .uk you should get them. They offer a phone quote so no harm in trying them.

I have just signed with Flogas at 35ppl & 20p per day tank rent with a cash credit of £100 back, price fixed for 6 months. it's worth pushing for the £100 credit as Calor are offering £50. Beat them up.

This is a 37% reduction from the pre-open-competition price , and my new high efficiency boiler & programmer appears to use about 60% of the old one! All in all my annual bill should be down from £1500 to about £600:j

Just had our letter rom Flogas to say that our contract is at an end and they want us to sign up for 2 years at 42.58ppl and 13.59p per day for tank rental.

Think I'll be ringing round but we also have a problem with the tank as it i now 10 years old and should be replaced. Unfortunately there is no where to site it that meets the current regulations! Has anyone had to deal with this?

    Thanks.
