Hi Nessquic, I know how you feel, my hubby is pretty good now, but it was hard work in the beginning... (I've finally trained him :rotfl: ) what is it with men and this 'providing' thing? sorry to all you wonderful MSE men out there, but some out there need a serious clip around the ear to get with the programme.
Why don't you still join in, but not tell him (stick with the no cake making/lunches, etc, so he still gets the message  ) then you can put the savings you make into a separate account and surprise him at a later date? not sure how you work your stuff, but it will be sad to loose you coz of your OH as we all enjoy reading your posts...Hope to see you on Aug thread...

Just a quick one to
declare at £104 - just over the £100 budget - I'm not too concerned though as I did buy the toiletries for the holidays out of this too which were extra to normal.
I've updated the sighature and bounded over to the August thread - see you all there!:j0 -
My final total for July is £231.89. My excuse is that I now have 6 adults (and we lost some food at the beginning of the month when the freezer was switched off by accident), living here but three of them do get meals provided at work. I think I shouild be more realistic and budget for £10 per person a week for next month which will be August £240.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Ooh I'm really pleased - nearly at the end of my first month doing the GC and my total is currently 434.16. Need to do shopping today but will finish the month under 500.00 so my 600.00 target was an over-estimate - now to start cutting back for next month x x
As an aside I have just added up my horses feed and livery bill and that came to 316.30 - maybe I need to add her to the challenge as well! xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Nessquic80, Sorry to hear about the anti-frugal OH reactions but I need to point out the other side of the above coin. I certainly wouldn't give up on your personal challenges if I was you, but save for something specific, as the 'surprise' can backfire pretty spectacularly (voice of experience) and lead to more trouble than it's worth. I'm not suggesting this is what will happen, only voicing a little bit of concern, as the 'saving for surprises' doesn't work for everyone. Good luck, if you choose to go this route, I sincerely hope it works for you.
I'm now saving for a new OH. :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I spent £307 out of my july budget of £350 :jI'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0 -
Hello, I am ready to declare July's grocery spend at £450. This is £50 over budget but in my defence I did have a bbq on Sat night to celebrate the summer arriving which blew the budget! Anyway I know that it is a saving on my normal monthly bill so quite chuffed. Used some of the biscuit recipes and used weekly menus which certainly helped. Thanks for all ideas folks!0

Time to declare!!
We've done really well in July - £124.67 of a budget of £200 :A so I'm delighted with that. Hopefully will be able to keep up the good work in August which will be my first full month of grocery challenge.
Early pregnancy symptoms seem to be fading so hopefully I'll get back on top of freezing ahead and making biscuits etc, but we've done okay without that this month...26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073
