Website says "Full Year" but I know I didn't work 52 weeks
I do not understand the "full year" calcs, and am worried that though the HMRC website says "full year" now, when I go to retire they'll do a thorough recalc and I'll come up short. I was fortunate to have good jobs paying above the NI Upper Earnings Limit. I tended to hop about though, and may years there will be 2 months…

HRP payments
Re Martins letter "HMRC has started writing to 100,000s of people – mostly women – who may be missing out on their full state pension entitlement due to an error in their national insurance records. Specifically, this affects those who took time off work to care for family between 1978 and 2010, as they may be missing…

Paying my final year of NI contributions.
I am due to receive my state pension from July 2024. I applied just over a week ago and yesterday received the figures which are as expected at the moment. I currently have 46 full years up to April 2023. I need to pay one more year(Year 47) to achieve a full 'new' state pension minus a few pence, as I was contracted out…

voluntary NI for expat
When I called up today about getting my 18-digit number to pay £840 for a missing year, the person on the phone asked me if I was out of the country that year. When I said yes, she told me that I should call another number and see if I could pay the lesser amount of 163.80 for that year (2014/15). I plan to do that on…

Understanding 'Full year' N.I. contributions
I know I cannot make any voluntary contributions for years before 2006. But back in year ending 1988, I have a 'full year' with 27 weeks of contributions, but later in 1991, I apparently have 37 weeks of N.I. credits but the Year is not full (doesn't count to pension). Is this correct and why is this? Thanks for any help…

Top up or get pension credit?
I am about ten years short of contributions to be able to draw a full state pension. Is it worth me borrowing the money to top it up or would pension credit bring me up to a full pension anyway? I'm 65 and self employed and will be 66 in December.

One more year of NI to pay
This might be a silly question but I'm trying to phone HMRC about plugging the remaining 1 year gap in my NI record as I was contracted out for many years before retiring. As I know the amount I have to pay and already have the 18 digit payment reference from last year when I paid off all the underpaid years except…

Topping up state pension gap caused by contracting out
Last year I contacted HMRC and got an 18 digit reference number so I could pay for 4 year's contributions. This left me with one more year to pay. Can this number only be obtained by phoning them?

Understanding contracting out
I’m struggling to understand the impact of having been contracted out from 2010 to April 2016. I’ve checked my NI contribution record and every year from 2010 to 2011 to now is showing as ‘Full year’. Overall I have 7 full years since April 2016, 6 full years before that (when I was contracted out), and 3 full years of…

Why can't I top up my pension?
Read this useful thread by @blue.peter https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6510290/state-pension-uprating/p1 - we are exactly the same age - 66 in November so realised I might be able to increase my pension However can't see any option to do so ?? I gave up work April 2021 but paid enough NI that month for it…

Cut in NI, more hours to qualify for SP ?
I had sort of calculated I needed to work about 20 weeks in the new financial year to qualify for my final SP year. Am I interpreting things correctly if I assume the reduction in NI paid in April will mean I will have to assume I need to work more than this or has the qualifying amount needed changed ?

Buying back NI Contributions
Is it worth buying, back dated NI years if the government is intending to reduce future NI payments or even abolish them altogether? My wife is short approximately 10 years of contributions, which would cost about £8k to buy back, but she still has over 10 years to go before reaching state pension age.

Voluntary NI contributions and allowance

NI record: several years not full, still being checked
I have five years in my National Insurance contribution

the same situation, are full. When I click on ‘more details’, I get the following

State pension
I’ve not been on here for years, so please bear with me if I’ve chosen the wrong category! I started to receive my state pension when I was 61 which is just over 10 tears ago now. I’ve continued to work as I can’t have a good quality of life on that amount, or survive even! What I resent is the fact I have to pay tax on…
