specified adult childcare credits

I have been informed that I am entitled to specified adult childcare credits from April 2011 to April 2021. The letter does not tell me what happens next. Are these automatically added to my national insurance contributions, does this increase how much pension I get? Thanks

    Informed by who ?
These credits are applied for when looking after a child.
Whose child did you look after ?
Will it increase your pension ? - Maybe.
Or do you mean you have received a letter from DWP that you have been identified as missing out on Home Responsibilities Protection ?
If so I believe you should be awarded it automatically.  How it affects you will depend on when you reached state retirement and how much you are currently getting.
  • Hi, the letter was from dwp. I gave up work to provide childcare for my 3 grandchildren.
