running and hydratation
Fellow runners, how do you keep hydrated? I've started taking on running outside this summer and found that running up to 10k and I am ok without drinking anything whilst running (although probably not ideal), but now that I do 15k +, I am finding that dehydration sets in and affects my performance. My problem is that I…

Running Earphones
Hi all, I've recently got into running and am wondering if anyone can recommend a good set of earphones, I'm currently using the hideous ones that came bundled with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, they aren't loud enough and they always fall out. I'd really like a bluetooth pair but I'm not sure whether they're compatible when…

My partner is trying to cancel her membership with these guys. She has moved abroad to do a years work. She gave them 4 weeks written notice then cancelled the DD. Advice: sports wear for husband
Christmas present time. I know he is getting low on gym wear, and I also know he's been talking about looking at swapping to all natural fibres ( his other clothes are) because he has psoriasis. He spends quite a lot of time in the gym, visiting more than once a day often, for stress relief as much as fitness, and…

Recommendation for home fitness dvd for small house?
I live in a little cottage with low ceilings and previous videos have asked me to do 10 paces to the left, or throw my arms up in the air etc. My living room will only allow say 3 paces (or 4 without furniture) and the ceiling is at most a ft above my head, in one room it's even lower - I'm sure not everyone has a gym…

Heart rate as an effort measurement
I was wondering if anyone else has observed this phenomenon with their own heart rate: It doesn't seem to matter how hard I work out, how fast I run, how brutal an Insanity interval, etc.., I cannot seem to get my heart rate over 120 beats per minute. In fact 100 is the usual highest, and I have delved into the rarified…

GPS watch - worth it?
Hi everyone, Hope you don’t mind me jumping on to this board! I haven’t been running for ages but really want to start getting back into it. I started running for “fun” but i got quite “serious” after a while, monitoring distance / pace. I stopped due to health issues but these are resolved now and I’ve been given the OK!…

Municipal gyms
Hello! My mental health service has offered to pay my subscription to a municipal leisure centre/gym. It's the Donald Dewar (lol) Leisure Centre. I think it was built for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. It has three swimming pools, a cardio room, a weights room, and sports courts. Thing is, I've never been beyond the…

Where can I buy a Gym(combination) locker for under 3 pounds?
Is 3 pounds or so for a padlock from 'the Gym group' a good deal? Also are combination locks better than conventional lock with a key? I imagine resetting a combination lock isn't the hardest thing in the world and also there's a risk with a conventional lock that somebody else might have exactly the same lock as me !

Gym cancellation notice period
Hi I'm about to change gym from a very flexible fitness centre where you pay for sessions that you use rather than a monthly fee, to a more traditional model with a monthly membership fee (only because the latter has a swimming pool!). For this I will be signing up for a 12 month contract (fine) but it states that I must…
