short term saving
Me and my wife are saving for the birth of our first child to cover buying baby things, pushchairs etc, and to cover for my wifes extended maternity leave. Obviously we need an account which is instant access, and pays the interest monthly as we probably won't have it open for a year. We are going to be saving 1000 to 1300…

PRUDENTIAL SHARES - PROVISIONAL ALLOTMENT LETTER
I own a few shares in Prudential and have received a pile of papers relating to 'allotment'. Not very explicit but asking me to pay a sum of money to purchase new shares at a reduced price. This is NOT investment advice but...
This is in no way intended to be investment advice, merely an observation that customers on the shop floor are often the first to know anything about the ups and downs of many a retailer's fortunes (they just don't realise it). Anyway, let's get on with my dawning realisation... A rather interesting thought has crossed my…

Gross Interest without tax being deducted
At present, the majority of our savings are in Mrs Hansi's name because currently she does not go over the £4745 threshold. Howeveer come January she will start to receive her State Pension which will take her over the threshold. My question is this, she will not go over the threshold in the current (04/05 tax year) so can…
