non-resident savings

Hello,

I've recently sold my house and moved to France. (Very nice, I hear you say!). This has provided me with a lump sum to invest, and obviously, living in France, an internet account is the way forward.

I know from the Inland Revenue that as I am now a non-resident, I am eligible to receive any interest my money earns tax free. They even have a specail non-resident form to send to your bank or building society (R105).

The problem is that every account I look at requires me to be a UK resident. ???

Is this some sort of Catch 22? Is there a way around this? Does anyone know of a decent account that doesn't require UK residency as a condition of application?

Help!
