Hi People,
I'm looking for a good savings account. I am thinking of using http://www.ingdirect.co.uk/
Has any one had any experience of this website or can you suggest other good places I can save my money.
I would need instant access with no fixed tie ins and can only start investing with £100.
Thank you in advance for your help

I suggest you read the other threads in this section, in particular "Best Returns" which answers your very question.0

Noelski,
I started the BT game about 6 months ago and went for the ING Direct account.
Get a more than decent rate of interst, the website is fine and I've never had any problems whatsoever.0 -
I have most of my savings in ING and it has been first class. I have been very pleased with it in every way, except that it doesnt pay the highest interest rate. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Yes, I would recommend ING too. The rate of interest is not the highest but it is decent enough.
The best thing about the ING accounts is you can make timed withdrawls and purchases, where you specify the date in the future when you want to make the transaction. Very useful if you need to withdraw money to pay off a credit card bill.
With other accounts, e.g. Egg (which I also like but for different reasons), you can only carry out the transaction "Today" which is not so flexible.
PS. You only need £10 to open your account.0 -

Just on that point david78, I asked Egg about this, and they replied that you can request a future dated withdrawal [I believe it was a withdrawal] and they will try to perform it on the date, provided you have 'funds' etc - but you need to 'contact' them [most likely by phone]. Not very convenient, I agree, but something to bear in mind. ;)
BTW, heartily agree with all remarks concerning ING - they are very good to use - except you do need a chequebook with your current accont [not all current accounts have one] to set up the 'linked' direct debit [which can be with up to 3 banks accounts].....under construction.... ING has a clean, very simple and easy to use website. Also their cust services is very good. However their interest rate is not the highest anymore. Have a look at Nationwide as well. Their interest rate is the same as ING. Also if you have a Nationwide current account, you can transfer money from the current account to the savings account (and vice versa) instantly, unlike ING where you have to set up a direct debit, so the transfer can take about 3 working days."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

noelski, I will go along with the comments made about ING, I think they are really good, the transfer of money both ways is as easy as it can be, as their chairman says its a no frills bank, what you see is what you get, alot of the others have little flaws like limits on how much will recieve the higher level of interest or added short term bonus, it does depend on what level of access you want and do you want to tie up your cash for a periods of time and remember you only need one pound to set up your account. Also you can go online, or use telephone or post to activate transfer.0

I also use ING, no problems and website easy to use etc.0

I concur. ING does have a decent rate of interest and at the beginning of 1 month I enjoy seeing the interest I have earned in the previous 1
