With ING there is no deception. No bonuses, withdrawal penalties etc and when it came out last year it topped the table in terms of interest rate. It seemed like a breath of fresh air compared to all the other thieving Banks & Building Societies which were making a fortune out of widening the the gap between savings & lending rates.
Sadly this could not last as ING has not fully or timely passed on the last 3 or 4 rate rises. Although they are all at it, I think that the fact that they have gone from 0.20% rises to 0.15% could signal worse to come and I would go for higher paying accounts even if they do have bonuses beefing them up. As soon as the bonus period ends, I'd close the account and then move elsewhere(if that is permitted in the t&cs). I intend to do just this with the new Abbey Reg saver account.
  • Another very satisfied ING Customer here :)

Yes, their rate may not be the highest - But no other savings account offers such a high interest rate without any clauses.

Hi, I want to open an ING savings account for my mum who lives in Australia but has dual citizenship. She has just returned to Oz after 3 yrs working in UK. On the appl form it states that you have to be a UK resident to open an account. My mum has £800 sitting in a Nat West Bank current account which is what I want to transfer to ING. Can she open it herself because she has a bank account or should I open it on her behalf?

    Thanks in advance

Just opened an ING account thanks to all the advice and tips on here. Used the link on this site. Went for the Uk one in the end as my mum wants her money kept in this country.

  • With one hundred pound in your instant access account the difference between a good account and a bad account will only be about 10p per week.
On the other hand great oaks from little acorns grow (slowly).

  • I suppose there always has to be one, but we have had nothing but problems with ING. After EIGHT weeks of trying to get our account working, I have just rung them to get our £3 back.
Unfortunately we found them to be incompetent and not appearing to know what was going on.

Off to search for an alternative now - preferably one that is Firefox/Linux compatible.
