Creidt card suspension ?
Just heard a financial analyst suggest that one of the first manifestations of the failure to deal with the credit slow-down could be withdrawal of credit card facilities. Then a dealer on the floor of the stock exchange said fund managers were telling clients to revert to cash. Oh dear !

What happens if the bailout doesn't go through - will the UK stock market crash?
Some of the papers are reporting that if the 700 billion dollar bail out does not go through then the UK stock exchange could fall by as much as 1000 points on 'black monday'. What does this mean for people who have stocks/shares/funds in the UK market? Are we likely to lose all our money? I know that a lot of it is media…

RBS and Barclays have crashed over 30% on the NYSE will more to follow
The stock price is vital to a banks survival, it links in to the ratings agencys and thus if the bank can borrow, if it cant borrow it is effectively bankrupt. After studying the 1970s and 1990s crashes I believe the current time is much worse then both times. I fear for whether sterling will have any value what so ever,…

Who is to blame Halifax or Abbey - 5 months to switch an isa
 I sit here in absolute frustration as two of the big institutions pass the buck. I opened an Abbey isa on April 26th 08 and then filled out the forms to switch my existing ISA from the Halifax. It was simple enough and i have done this three times before in previous years. I thoght all was going well until i received…

Remaining banks OK says Peston! Buy in?
Peston, a.k.a the PM's spokesman on banking, reckons that the B&B is the last significant bank that relied on wholesale money and the rest are sound. So....is the nationalisation of B&B a bottom and now is the time to go long on the UK banking sector.

I've just opened a Northern Rock e-Saver account and the T&C clearly states that the FSA protection is applicable to the first £35,000 and yet the article on this web site clearly states that there is no limit.
