Train companies make it difficult to take bike when cyclists are potential good customers
Cyclists cannot get coaches or buses. So if they want to take their bike somewhere the ONLY thing they can do is get the train and buy a train ticket. This potentially makes them good customers that the train companies would want to encourage surely? So why,do they make it difficult and painful to get the train with a bike?

Cheap train tickets
Having booked a celebratory two night stay in London we were horrified to discover how much the train fares were - £204 for two returns from Dorset to London. We rarely use the train so no point in buying a rail card. I guessed there must be an answer to the problem on this site and discovered Trainsplit. Their quote was…

ScotRail 10 ticket FlexiPass expire after a month
I have been purchasing FlexiPass tickets (10 singles) for my journeys between Glasgow and Edinburgh (2 or 3 times a week). I did not travel for a few weeks recently and then discovered that despite having 7 tickets remaining, the FlexiPass had expired. It seems that FlexiPass tickets are only valid for 1 month. On…

Two Together railcard
Does anybody have experience of this card ? I discovered, trawling through MSE, that you can use £10 worth of Tesco vouchers to get "free" railcards - so we went for the TT option. At first it wasn't completely clear (to me at least) what the terms and conditions covered - but now I think I have a handle on the key…

Contactless or Oyster monthly ticket?
I could do some advice here. I currently use a monthly ticket costing me £194 a month to travel within zones 1-4 for my commute. I also like to pop into the museums in London on a Friday and go into the town centre to pick up my groceries on the weekend via the bus. When I'm off, I like to bum around the sights of London…

RedSpottedHanky receipt
I have some RedSpottedHanky credit that I need to use by mid-July, but the only train travel I'm likely to make is for work. Ordinarily I buy a walk-up ticket, and then the next day I give the receipt to the Finance Department at work, who reimburse me. If I instead buy from RedSpottedHanky and collect the tickets from the…

Trains to Edinburgh
I'm buying Advance tickets to Edinburgh for a small group of people, going up on Aug 3 and returning on Aug 11. It seems that the Advance tickets to Edinburgh on Aug 3 go on sale tomorrow, but I apparently can't get return tickets. Last year, someone else got the tickets and they cost about £50 each, but just the singles…

Question about train changeovers
I want to buy a train ticket on Northern Trains that goes to Windermere but there is a changeover at Oxenholme. The changeover is only about 5-8 minutes. Hi all. I found a great thread from 2014 about "Proving age on train," which answered a few of my questions, but I have some remaining.
