Is it cheaper to pre pay a TFL monthly travel pass zones 1-4 than to just use my credit card to pay as I go everyday and will it be capped at the prepay price?

My monthly pass runs out tomorrow, shall I renew it, or is it the same cost to just use my credit card every day and the max cap won't be more than the prepay amount?0

Don’t give TFL direct access to your bank account.... use Oyster PAYG at least then if you get hit by a bus you’ll only pay for what you used.0

Is it the same price to pay as you go with a cap the same amount as if you prepaid?0 -
Yes, it is... unless that is tfl award themselves an incomplete journey in the hope you don’t notice/claim a refund. Use an Oystercard!0

Useually pre pay is cheaper than pay as you go.
With phones prepay is always cheaper.
But with tfl if it's the same price then why would anybody ever pre pay?0 -
TFL don’t do discounts and as for refunds..... blood/stone comes to mind!0

@Mr_Singleton has an obsession with TfL.
On the occassions where I've been charged too much, it's always been my fault (forgetting to tap out, using a different card) and TfL have always refunded quickly and with no fuss at all.0 -

It would be simpler if he had his signature as "TfL are the spawn of Satan"0 -
The obvious answer is that it depends how much you use it! If you work out how much each option costs you will know.0
