Left my bag on a London bus

Don't ask how/why but I left my bag on the bus in London. Unfortunately my tablet was in it along with some other things. Nothing of great value other than personal information on the device.
I've changed the password on the linked gmail account and so that should help secure it but maybe I should erase all the data though I guess I'm holding out for a good Samaritan to hand it in.
I've called the bus depot but no luck thus far.
I've filled out the tfl lost property form. The MET police site just fobs you off with 'contact the bus depot' and so I can't report it as missing with them.
My conclusion is that someone took it off the bus.
Anyway, is there anything I missed with regard to chasing it up?

Did the tablet have a tracking device on it
Yes, it's a well known model of tablet and so will be trackable. It's possible to check the activity of the tablet remotely because I can log into the gmail account linked to the tablet. According to the google log there's been no activity since I lost it.0 -

Im aware changing a password does not factory set it but all you have to do is go to settings on the device and the option to do it is there0
