Housing Association and a cat?
Hi I am in the process of getting a property from a housing association. So far on any of the forms I have filled in it has not asked whether I have any pets. I am due to view the property next week and from there sign a tenancy agreement but the thing is I have a cat and am worried in case the agreement says no pets. I…

Some of the things mentioned are obvious i.e…

Pet Related Savings.
Before I pass on a few gems, I must apologise if I have put this thread in the wrong place, I am still fairly new to the board and I went on the assumption that many pet owners, like me, treat their critters as part of the family. I have only added tips for animals that I am used to handling, feel free to add…

Old dog. No appetite. Help re food and later
My 15 year old spayed old dog is obviously fading fast. She walks slowly now and sleeps a lot. She still shows token interest if a rabbit runs across us when I am in the field She has not eaten properly for days. Just a lick here and there. I have tried chicken, fish and so on and she drinks loads. She appears to be…

Cut my Cat
First post and I need cheering up. I was grooming my long haired pedigree cat and accidentally cut (off) a large 1-1.5 inch piece of skin with her matted fur. My neighbour came over and we rushed her to the vet who gave her antibiotics and stitches and charged me £121! She is now wobbly, subdued and not herself. She needs…

Cat Hairballs
First off, didn't know where else to post this, so apologies if the Mods feel if it's in the wrong place! (or if it doesn't belong on MSE at all) My cat is 14 and just recently has started hacking up furballs more and more recently. We give him Whiskas anti-furball treats, which he likes, but still he keeps coughing (and…

Insuring a Rabbit?
Hi All, I bought a baby rabbit yesterday and I have been considering insuring her, but not sure if there is any point or who to look at. A lot of pet insurers seem only to do cats and dogs. The one I have found for rabbits is quoting nearly £10 a month with a £60 excess. That means she would have to have over £180 worth of…

Pet insurance for cat
My cat is very accident prone. I keep putting off getting insurance but now I think is the right time. Anyone recommend any company? Do you have to tell them how many times they have been to the vet? Just accidents so far, no pre existing illness! Any help would be really appreciated.

OS Dog training treats
I've started sending the whole family (me, hubbie, 2 dogs!) to clicker training classes - Max is used to expensive freeze dried liver, and the people running the class wanted to feed Jez hotdog (not very healthy IMO) so with a bit of research I have found this cheap, healthy recipe, and thought I would share it!! Fish…

Homemade cat litter freshner?
Because we're out during the day, when we come back the litter tray can be a little pongy until we see to it. I've bought Bob Martins litter freshner a couple of times and it's really good but too expensive to buy all the time. So I thought if I mixed bicarb (to absorb the smell) and talcum powder (to prevent caking - read…

Help needed to fatten up dog
An odd one this. We recently got a dog 2 yr old Pyrennean Mountain dog from a rescue centre. Its a proper pedigree etc, but was returned to the kennels by the original purchaser, after a marriage break up. The dog is underweight, but I can't get her to eat much. You would think a dog that normally weighs 8 stone might eat…
