afternoon all,

I have been looking at the pet discussion thread but can't find any info on what I'm after, well here goes, I had a joiner in doing some work this week and his terrier jumped out of his van window and into a house garden a few doors away and killed their rabbits the neighbours we're very upset and the joiner spoke to them and they sorted it between themselves however it got me thinking I have Two staffordshire bull terriers who are lovely gentle dogs (with us) but if another animal comes near our house they go mad and I would like to know if anyone can reccommend an insurance policy that is mainly for 3rd party cover if they were to attack another animal or person, not even so much to cover vet bills mailny to cover if they were to do something like the joiners dog,

many thanks
a please & thank you is all it takes

Hi - if you have contents insurance this normally includes liability for accidents caused by pet dogs up to usually £2m.Check with your insurance company.

You have said your dog can go mad and is it one of the breeds covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act ? If so you may find the contents insurance company don't want to know but before you spend out ££££ check with them.

thanks for that will check my insurance, by mad I meant not MADDDD but bark a lot and jump at the windows if another animal goes past didn't mean it in the "frothy at the mouth" type lol ;) , I don't think staffordshire bull terriers are classed as dangerous dogs?

just had a quick look and they are not dangerous dogs it said the below are

    Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

Extracts from the Act are in "double quotes".

    1. The following dogs, and also cross-bred pit-bulls, are dangerous dogs under the meaning of the Act:
    1. Pit Bull Terrier
    2. Japanese Tosa
    3. Dogo Argentino
    4. Fila Braziliero
