Reclaimed Council Tax
I’ve been lucky enough to get quite a substantial refund on my council tax as I have been in the wrong band for over 20 years. I was wondering if interest should also be paid on the refund?

Forgot to tell the council I was moving out
A few months ago I sold a property and bought a new one. I cancelled my council tax direct debit but forgot to tell the council where I lived before. I've been paying council tax in my new place but now I have started wondering if I should have told the council I was moving out when I sold my property. Or is the new owner…

Court Summons For Late Council Tax Payment
Yo, I've been summoned to the Magistrates. I pay my Council Tax over 12 months. I was short by one payment by £10 one month and I've been summoned. I plan on telling them that I can make the late payment and current payment on one of my paydays this month (of which I have two extra, plus extra income from a PT job I've…

Am I too late to appeal a Council Tax Band increase?
Hopefully someone can advise me on here, I'd be really grateful for some help. In November 2020 I received a letter stating that our Band was changing from F to G, I received a letter at the time stating that the coded reason for the alteration was 9 (‘Other reason’). At the time I presumed this was due to a previous…

She paid £180,000 for it back in June 2020. When she moved in she was told that the property was in council tax band E and that 17 of the other residents had…

VOA Appeal frustration!
I’m in here as I thought I’d let you all know about my council tax journey. I made contact with the VOA back in March as myself and the 23 other apartments shared in 4 blocks are all band B and when I read up on the process, I sent in an basic appeal. A reply back asked for evidence so I put in a four page detailed run…

Landlord not passing on cost of living rebate
I have a question regarding the recent cost of living council tax rebate.I am a single occupier of a 1 bed flat. In addition to rent I pay council tax monthly to my landlord who then pays it in their name. I’m not sure why this is the case as in previous rentals I have always paid directly to the council myself. But I did…

I need to submit mine shortly to meet my required 4 week deadline. Shall I just base my evidence on refuting their initial decision evidence?

Tax reclaim companies
First time poster here. My wife just handed over my name, address, email, job title and NI number to a company called Money Back Helpdesk. They offer a "service" to reclaim tax for working-at-home from the government scheme available through their own website. However this third party company charges 48 percent for doing…

Stamp Duty Reclaim
We moved house but got a bridging loan and had to pay additional Stamp Duty as we owned 2 houses for a short time. We have had a letter saying our council tax band is changing...after living here almost 4 years
Hi, we have received a letter saying our council tax band is changing....it will be going up by 2 bands....we have lived here almost 4 years...can they do this? The guidance i can see online says it can be changed when sold, it had a small extension put on by the previous owner so this surely should have been flagged…

We moved into our home in February and have been bombarded with letters from various firms telling us we are due a refund on the stamp duty we paid as our home has two dwellings in their opinion. We have an annexe - bedroom, shower room, kitchen with its own front door but it can be accessed through our kitchen and we need…

Council tax assessment system
Am I missing something in thinking that the system is flawed because freehold and leasehold property values increase differently. According to Nationwide property values my leasehold property should now be band C as my leasehold property has not increased in value at tthe same rate as local freehold properties.

Insurance reimbursement
When i took out my mortgage over 15 years ago, I was told by my lender that I must take out their buildings insurance. About 2 years ago they said that this was no longer the case. After a look around, I found insurance at 1/3 of the previous price. Do I have a case for a complaint? How do I go about it? Cheers

Unable to compare banding to others
I have in the past attempted to contact the council/ valuation office to explain my banding being incorrect and gave a lot of information to prove so but all I ever got back from them were very short replies as if they hadn’t read all my information and didn’t really want to help. Basically I gave up with trying a few…

Council Tax Banding Appeal
My home has been rebanded from C to E! There appear to be 2 reasons for this 1. I bought it for £100K in 1991 (the year that is used to set bands) 2. The VOA hold incorrect information about the size of my house and therefore do not accept my selected comparision properties - including the identical semi next door! My…
