Junior pension
I have been paying in to a stakeholder pension for my granddaughter for 14 years. Can I transfer it into an ISA or something similar?

Premium Bonds (Going into Care)
Are Premium Bonds taken into account when local authorities carry out a means test to determine how much you pay towards Care Home costs or do they come under the Investment Bonds category. Found this but not sure......…

Calculation for comparison of ISA v Tax on Interest
A while back I read a couple of posts which I'm afraid I can't locate via search and I'd be grateful for some pointers from anyone who might know. The posts included a calculation/formula for establishing what interest rate would be needed on taxable interest to be more beneficial than any given interest rate within a Cash…

Old instant access ISA: Can I now put money into it?
I have an instant access cash ISA which I opened many years ago. I put some money into it (well below the £20K max) which I subsequently withdrew. I didn't close it however and left a small balance. Can I add to to it now or can you only add to them within the tax year in which they were opened? I assume I can't add to it…

Move and fix dilemma
Just thinking out loud! I have a 2.75% fixed rate ISA expiring January 2025. That is approximately when I think I might need the money towards a house purchase, but it's a poor rate now. Shifting it this month or next would feel relatively painless as it's annual interest and 180 day penalty so I'd get out more than the…

Transferring ISA for higher interest within Paragon
I have an existing triple access ISA with Paragon that is not earning the same interest as the new issue. I was a bit unsure about whether I could just close the old and open a new one. I spoke to someone there on the phone and they just said to answer No to the question as to whether I’ve opened an ISA this tax year. I…

Splitting ISAs - how many is too many?
If I kept to my previous ISA provider, moved an amount (£10,000) to a new account with them - Then transfered the more to another provider + new money £10,000Does that count as my annual investment in ISAs for a year? I was hoping to split the money into 3 ISAs while rates are good so that I could use some without having…

New ISA stopped taking deposits…can I open another ISA
Hi All, Possibly a question that’s been asked before, but would really appreciate some advice. I opened a Principality ISA about 2 months ago and have about £1,000 in it, but they have now withdrawn the isa from sale and will no longer take deposits, this as you can imagine renders the account absolutely useless when I…

Savings Account within a SIPP
Is this still a thing? I have a one year window to deposit a chunk into a SIPP, however I'm not really inclined to invest in equities at the moment, on account of my inexperience and general negative view of market conditions. I have an old workplace pension that seems to be doing nothing and deposited a small amount in a…

ISA Rules query: transfer vs investment
My Search-fu has failed me and I can't come up with a phrase that gets relevant results for what I'm trying to find out. I suspect this is a no-no, but ... I'm fine with the basic rules (different types of ISA can run in parallel, finite pot per year, can only invest into one of each type in any given year, transfers don't…

Cash ISA transfer only - without new subscription
Hi, Are there cash ISA providers that will open a new account without requiring a new subscription, i.e. transfer only? The various comparison tables, and even the provider's own websites, typically state "minimum deposit" which could be taken to mean either new money or a transfer in.

Opening multiple ISAs of the same type in the same tax year
The internet is confusing when it comes to what you can and can't do with ISAs. Most of us know you can only subscribe to one ISA of every type in a tax year. But what does "subscribe to" really mean? Some articles say you can't open more than one. Some articles say you can open as many as you like as long as you don't…

Withdrawal question
Hello. Apologies if this has been asked already, I’ve had a look but couldn’t see an answer to this. I have a H2B ISA. I want to open a S&S ISA with Triodos using some money from my H2B ISA. Sounds simple, just transfer the money, but from what understand the first payment needs to be from a nominated account and I don’t…
