Need Some Suggestions
Hey, I just got my Student's Bursary and instead of blowing it all on something fancy for my computer I have decided to start saving. I have been looking at ISAs and have read all of the information on them that MSE contains. I just have one question. The only thing that gets me is the interest. Some of them seem to pay it…

Abbey safety plus
Hi there, I invested just over 5k in a safety plus over 5years ago and it`s due to mature next month. This plan has a guaranteed return of 18%. My worry is that I don`t have an Abbey account anymore and my local branch are not very helpful. I asked them what happens when it`s due to mature and they said "oh they`ll be in…

What to do next? Halifax
Hi my wife and I each had £3K in a Halifax ISA. We then each opened another one with £1K in it. Upon maturity we phoned up the Halifax and requested that the £3K plus interest was transferred into the ISAs containing the £1K. This was agreed over the phone and we left it at that. The 2 £1K ISAs have now got to maturity and…

Toisa to isa to top up?
Quote from this site 'Since April 2008, all Toisas have become simple Cash ISAs, meaning all normal ISA rules apply. You can no longer add funds to an old Toisa, but if you have any money left in one, you can transfer it and up the rate. You're then able to add funds to transfered Cash ISA account.' Does this mean I can…

Stay put or move?
Like a lot of people with an ISA, I have only ever had one and have never tranferred to other providers. Right now I have 12000 in the account (with another 3500 to put in at any point - its currently in a savings account), plus the interest which is put in at the end of October. The account I have is paying 0.5% rising to…

My S&S ISA Strategy - am I being to simplistic?
I've got around £3K that i'd rather do something more creative with than simply having it sat earning practically nothing in a savings account. Basically, there are 3 big name companies that I have lots of experience of as a customer, that I feel are well run, have a straight forward product offering (and therefore a…

Well it is now the 6th October, anyone managed to top up the £1500 into their Lloyds fixed rate ISA as you are supposed to be able to do now, if over 50? Nothing on the website when you log on allowing you to transfer in extra cash. If you can transfer into the FRISA is it at the same rate as when the term started and for…

Stocks and shares ISA
I would really appreciate any opinions on this: Earlier this year I openend my first S&S ISA by transferring a previous cash ISA and also investing more. My selected funds have done very well, but now I am getting worried about a downwards turn in the market so am thinking of selling. Am I correct in thinking that in order…

Transferring an ISA > Getting The Timing Right?
I have a fixed term ISA which matures on the 15th of October. I'm going to transfer it to another bank/BS's ISA. My question is when would be the ideal time to start the transfer process? I don't want to be too early incase I'm in breach of the fixed term and get penalised. Thanks...

Can you freeze an ISA
We have a Scottish widows stocks and shares ISA. It is losing money at the moment. However, that is not the main reason we would like to freeze if that is possible. Money is very tight at the moment and we are looking at what we can cut back on (temporarily). So, can you freeze an ISA? And are there any associated costs…
