new member needs advice
Hi everyone! My dad had a property which he has given me as a gift for tax reasons. The property is worth £130,000 and has no mortgage on it, and is rented out for £460 a month. I am only 24 years old and have no experience of the property business but would like to go into it once I finish my masters at university. I…

Offers in the Region Of
We are looking to buy a house at the moment and have come accross one that says OIRO £185,000. The same estate agent advertises 'offers over'. OIRO - does that mean that I can offer lower than that price etc.. Seems like a crazy question, but just curious before we put in an offer. Thanks

House buying insurance? First time buyer :)
I've currently found a house that I'm interested in, but I'm quite concerned about the (short) chain that follows, reading between the lines from what the estate agent has said. I'm sure I've read about some sort of insurance that covers legal and survey fees if the vendor pulls out, but now I need it I can't see anything…

Buying a Council house
My mother is nearly 70 and due to buy her Council house soon. Does it have to be in her name, or can it be in mine (her son) as I will be paying for it? If it has to be in hers, I am bothered that she may have to sell the house in future in the event of needing residential care? Any advice? Thanks

Mobile home/caravan on holiday park
We are currently undecided what to do. About 7 yrs ago, we sold our house and invested the money. This was due to the fact that my wife was allocated a house with her job. Unfortunately she became registered disabled as she lost independence at balance. Her contract with the local authority ensured we were allocated a…

Self Building
Seems like a great way to save (or make ;) ) money. Astute people such as those on this site must have done it. How easy was it? Is there a free way (insert your own Hart to Hart joke here) to find a good plot? What are the pitfalls? Any thoughts gladly received.
