Dentures
I had some dentures fitted last Tuesday but now the swelling has gone down from my 3 extractions they don't seat properly. Would the dentist have them remade for me? They are closed until Monday but I will call them then.

Fined by the dentist
Hi everyone, I'm feeling a bit ripped off by my NHS dentist, and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I booked a hygienist appointment, which I was made to pay up front for (at the time of booking). I subsequently missed the appointment (I forgot) and was made to pay £20. I queried this with the…

I am confused by the fact that I have met several people (through my work so i cannot get back to them to to delve more) who have a dental insurance policy (they pay around £30 a month…

NHS dentist claiming for an appointment I didn't know about.
I've checked my patient profile online and there is a dentist appointment I have no knowledge of. The strange thing that happened last time I saw this dentist was that at the end of the treatment she made me fill in a blank treatment form(as well as the one for that day), when I questioned why she said it was purely for…

Cyst following root canal?
More curious than anything, I have been referred but may go private if required! I had a root canal carried out about 18months ago. Since then I have developed a lump up in the gum, it's quite solid, hard to press and I get occasional headaches that feel like they stem from it. The dentist has x-rayed and says she can't…

Prescription Suncream
Theresa May suggested during PMQs getting a prescription for sun cream (there is currently a campaign to remove VAT from high factor sun cream). Initially I thought that would be bonkers because you'd end up paying £9 for sun cream, but then I thought some people get free prescriptions... Has anyone ever asked their GP for…

Dental Villainy
Some months ago, the private dentist whom I had been seeing for ~15 years retired and a new chap took over the practice. Straight away he told me that I have a big cavity in a wisdom tooth, and he has now filled that, but he told me he’s not optimistic that the tooth will survive and that it will probably need to be…

Wasn't made aware my dental appointment was private, and feel I'm being unfairly billed for it
Hi there. I had an appointment at my dental practice on the 10th of June with the hygienist for a scrub and polish. Upon leaving my appointment, I was shocked to be slapped with a bill for £48. I wasn't aware in the slightest that this was a private appointment and the practice had taken no measures to disclose this to me…

Opticians independent vs national
Hi Need to book myself an appointment for an eye test but have not had great experiences with national companies in the past. I’m tempted to go to a local optometrist but their size worries me. I understand the latest tech is going to be expensive so my main concern is that they won’t be able to check as much as the…

Hello About a year ago I found I was getting headaches from using the computer at work and had always been told I had a prescription (astigmatism) but only needed glasses if I wanted them, to make things sharper. Last year it was strongly recommended, so I got some for screen use and driving and things are much sharper. I…

Access to records of NHS hospital treatment
Apologies for repeating in part an earlier question. I have tried to find it and update it but unsuccessfully. I developed a medical condition while on holiday in the UK recently and had to consult a local doctor and was treated with antibiotics. On my return home I had an emergency admission to A and E where a range of…

dark glasses
My dentist uses a pair of wraparound dark glasses to protect my eyes from his light, I'd like to buy a pair for myself - I asked him about them, and while he knew they were really cheap he didn't know the brand or anything. There are so many on ebay, can anyone recommend what to get?
