Time off to see GP?
Not sure if this is the right thread, but wondered what the position is if wanting time off to see doctor. DD is on summer job as student and did not want to take time off or the day off sick. She got an appointment for just after 5p.m. and asked to leave work 10 mins early - her boss agreed. Just before she was due to…

Is it worth paying for a private consultant?
My sister had an accident at home several months ago and hit her head, resulting in a conscussion. Several weeks after the accident, she started suffering from headaches and diziness. GP has ruled out any simple explanations, and thinks that the problems she's having are related to the head injury. He's referred her to a…

Lung cancer?
FIL (almost 80) has just been discharged from hospital. He was admitted with general unwellness. He has been ill for over 20 years after suffering a heart attack in his 50's and is now housebound. While in hospital they did some tests and found a shadow on his lung. They decided against doing a biopsy as he suffered a…

Calling all dental staff
Can anyone please advise on the products used at dental surgeries for the purpose of polishing teeth, when you go for a normal 'scale and polish'. I'm interested in trying DIY, at least for my front teeth. I assume the pastes and 'polishing pads' (or whatever) are not prescription medicines or anything. I should be…

Wheelchairs
Does anyone know who/how/where you get a wheelchair from please? I have been told through the GP, someone else said through Social Services. OH's condition is deteriorating and a wheelchair for use some of the time would really help and mean he could get out and about more. I tentatively asked our social worker about this…

Relief from menopause misery...please help!
I can't carry on like this. I am miserable, snapping at my darling daughters (who do not deserve such treatment....I could cry about it) and probably on the verge of some sort of warning from my boss about my miserable attitude! There is so much to do, the house and garden are going to the dogs (like myself _pale_ ) and…

I've got a date!
The Pink Experience starts Sunday 17 July at 2 pm, with surgery scheduled for Monday. Expect it to go quiet for at least a week afterwards, I'll see if my DH can be persuaded to post an update but don't hold your breath. My preparations include a haircut, chiropody, underarm wax and a relax/sleep CD. Tried to eat sensibly,…

Fish
Does fish make you brainy? I've been reading that the omega-3 oils in fish make you less depressed, less schizophrenic, less aggressive, less distractable, and more intelligent, more focussed, more calm and more sociable. Is that all true? At work yesterday, I was really struggling to concentrate on what I was supposed to…

Electric razor or stick to manual wet shave?
Ever since I've been shaving its been with a normal wet razor, mainly because that's what my dad used. What are the pros and cons of moving to an electric razor? Also there seems so many of them around, which one should one go for? Also I get ingrown hairs once in a while. Would moving to electric solve that problem? thanks

Finding lumps
Hello there, this is my first post here, although I have been looking around for a while. A few weeks ago whilst examining myself in the bathroom I discovered a lump in my left testicle. Should I worry about this or just leave it for a while to see what happens? It is a bit sore when I prod it. Thanks

Where to give birth - hospital choice?
Sorry this isn't really a moneysaving question but I hope someone can help. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and will be moving house in the next 4-5 weeks so will at some point need to make a decision on where to give birth. We're only moving about 12 miles so it doesn't rule out the hospital I'm currently booked into (St Peters…
