Solar iboost problem
I have a solar iboost that was installed with our solar panels a couple of years ago. The iboost developed a fault, saying “tank hot” so wouldn’t heat the water. We replaced the iboost, but the same thing happened again. It worked for a few days, but then displayed same message. We only have an immersion heater for hot…

Octopus Flux Billing problems
I have been on Octopus' Flux tariff for electricity for nearly a year and have had no billing issues with Octopus until this month. I have a SMETs 2 meter that was installed by Shell Energy back in 2023 and since switching to the Octopus tariff in Feb 2024, I normally get a monthly bill showing my gas usage/cost (on a…

Buying a house with solar panels.
Panels installed in 2018 and owned. It's an estate, the heir said that the panels come with a 'good' original tariff and in my solicitor's paperwork I see: " Enquiries.... Please supply copies of the Feed in Tariff agreement". However, I don't see these copies in the pack the solicitor sent me.So, before I ask the solicitor…

Home Battery with Solar
Hello, we are looking at getting solar panels fitted and had a few quotes from various local and national installers. Many of whom had a default position of having a battery fitted at the same time. I’ve been crunching various numbers and think we’d actually get a quicker return on our investment without a battery. This is…

Where to get info re solar panels & batteries already installed in house we bought
Hi, We've just moved into a bungalow, which has 16 solar panels, and 2 batteries. Although the vendor told us he would leave paperwork relating to all this and how to manage it, there's nothing except the invoices for the original installation in 2018. He made it clear to us that the panels had been bough outright. He told…

Can you recycle... Foil tape backing? Unused latex free gloves?
Hi Apologies, this isn't so much a moneysaving thread, just a green / recycling one. But thought perhaps there might be someone who can help... I'm a bit of a recycling addict. I've got a couple of things and I'm not sure if they can be recycled, so wondered if anyone might be able to advise before they go to the dreaded…

Tesla Powerwall app, a stupid question.
I'm sure the answer to this question is staring me in the face, but so far it has eluded myself and my husband: On the 'cost of electricity' page, I'm trying to fill in the rates from the Octopus flux tariff. The app presents with a default value of £0.00. So, for example, the flux rate is 14.51p/kWh, so I want to change…

Divorce and transfer of feed in tariff in to my name
I have seen another thread on here about a similar situation. I was joint owner of my current home with my ex husband. As part of the divorce settlement I bought him out of the house, so there was a transfer of ownership of the home completed. The solar panels were installed before we separated and jointly owned the…

Octopus solar panels. A disaster
Tried to get Octopus energy to install solar panels as I am a customer of theirs and they were offering a £1500 discount. Their procedures are a total joke. Had two reps from other companies visit. They looked at my roofs and inside my loft space. They told me how many panels they could install and where the battery would…

Solar panels - no clue at all
Hi everyone. I’ll start with a be gentle plea. I would say I’m a relatively switched on guy but my goodness I cannot for the life of me get my head around any of this solar stuff. Some context…. We moved into a new house (to us, built in 1997) which has solar panels on the roof. We’ve no prior experience with them. There…

solar panel/inverter servicing in northamptonshire
I am looking to get my 11 year old set-up serviced but the company I used no longer do solar. Does anyone have recommendations for this in Northamptonshire please? Or alternatively anyone to avoid? It still seems to be working well, with no noticeable drop in generation but it hasn't been serviced for some time. Thanks.

How do you even get a quote for solar?
Emailed 5 companies, asking what make and type of panel they install.3 didn't even bother replying. 2 did reply that they'd bring the info along when they quoted.Replied to the 2 saying fine, but I won't be signing on the day as I have to do my own research on their info... neither replied... Octopus Solar offer? Any negatives?
Hi - just been offered solar from Ocopus with no obvious charge as far as I can see. What would be the 'catch' or failing that , what would be the downside/negatives on accepting it? Does anyone here have with experience of this? How did you find it and how are you getting on? Thanks
