Solar panel Certification

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me how to get the Certificate I think is called an MSC. I had Solar panels fitted back in June last year and need this certificate to start claiming the money back from my electric company for the excess going back to the grid. I have phoned the company a ridicules amount of times and several promises but no action. The company has changed its name and gone back to just doing boilers / central heating. I have even contacted the salesman who came round and he has tried to no avail.

Thank you,

D

Sorry to hear this OP, try contacting the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and explain the situation. Provide:

    • Your address
    • Installation date
    • Installer/company name (even if it has changed)
    • Any invoice or paperwork

They can check whether the installation was registered and advise next steps.

    Checking a certificate exists

You can check whether an MCS Certificate exists by calling the MCS Customer Support Helpdesk on 0333 103 8130. You will need to know the technology type of the system and the full address (including postcode) of where the system is installed.

We require proof that you reside at the installation address. Acceptable documents include:

    • Household utility bill (less than 3 months old)
    • Council Tax letter (less than 12 months old)
    • Bank statement (less than 3 months old)
    • Financial statement (less than 12 months old)
    • Mortgage statement (less than 3 months old)
    • Current full or provisional photo driving license
    • P45 or P60 statement (less than 12 months old)

If you have never received a certificate, if you require a copy of your certificate or if you require an amendment, you should contact your original MCS certified installer in the first instance to request this.

Further to the preious replies, were the company definitely MCS Certified at the time they did the install?

Did they provide you with details of the Consumer Code they were members of (eg. NICEIC or HIES) and did you receive an insurance-backed guarantee for your installation?
