remote control wall sockets ?
does anyone have any experience of these ? I'm thinking of buying some from aldi's , as a lot of our appliance sockets are quite inaccessible - meaning that they are forever left on standby ..... which frustrates me. But not entirely sure if they would be any better , as they themselves must use a certain amount of power…

Local Council White Good Uplifts
Have you ever heard of Local Councils making deals with local businesses to pass on White Goods they uplift? I was recently in a shop in Exeter which said they got lots of 2nd hand stock in this method but I've never heard of it anywhere else.

Can you recycle.......?
On Friday we had four new bins delivered by the council. One for recyclables, one for non recyclables and 2 for food waste (a small caddy for indoors and a larger one for outdoors). Are the food trays you get from Tesco, Sainsburys etc classed as being recyclable? My leaflet says no to yogurt pots but what about the trays?

Attic heating ideas?
I have no heating in the attic of my house which is used as a bedroom. With winter approaching, I'm looking for a solution. Does anyone have any recommendations for efficient electric radiators? I've been looking on line, but can't find any comparisons for electric radiators based on efficiency. Do they all use pretty much…

Tesco green clubcard points for recycling glass?
Hi folks, Ive just got back from doing my weekly shop at Tesco, and as I was leaving, noticed that they now have one of those big electronic recycling centres in the car park. I noticed that there was a slot for your clubcard so came home and checked out Tesco's website to see if you could earn clubcard points for…

Electric Kettle Problems
"Eco" electric kettles generally have problems. Some are too heavy for old or infirm people. If you are poor at guessing the correct amount of water for the number of cups/mugs you can mark levels on your kettle. However the main kettle trouble is the time and energy wasted in making steam before the power is switches off.…

I have 7 dimplex storage radiators and they need to go, BUT I'm not having much luck. I have them on ebay for 99p and also in my local freecycle. I don't want to spend too much to get rid of them, I've tried local free ads. Anyone know of any other ideas?? thanks

Freecycle is it corrupt??
Seems like a lot of posts for items are not making the board but are taken. I guess the takers are psychic. There must be huge temptation for administrators seeing items before it reaches board. Does this happen? Am I the only person who has noticed strange things on Freecycle. There are also on my local boards a large…

Didn't want to barge into the freecycle post above. Have joined my local group and listed an item. Emailed my first response 2/9 (day after listing). No reply to date even though I sent my mobile number. Am I too impatient or should they have responded by now? Thank you.

Low energy Halogen light bulbs
When I had my kitchen made over last year, I inadvertantly bought a swanky new light which uses 4 halogen light bulbs. They look great and illuminate every corner of the kitchen, but aside from them being very hot to stand under, they blow every 5 minutes and use tons of energy. I heard you can get 'green' ones based on…
