Will BoE independence be reversed?
Theresa May has opined that low interest rates are causing inequality and William Hague riffs on this in today's Labourgraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/17/central-bankers-have-collectively-lost-the-plot-they-must-raise/ Along with the failures of PFI, tax credits, and the FSA, is this not just the last failed…

House Prices Still Going UP
Directly from the BBC Makes the https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5044745 thread look a little bit silly.... It's a shame that "Bubble and Squeak" isn't still posting. Was it April 2014 that he called the Peak? :rotfl:

This is the bottom line
QE and low interest rates inacted by national governments for selfish reasons will keep house prices rising and only when a global treaty to do otherwise will this growing asset boom stop. ... and that's never going to happen easily because the low interest rebel govements always benefit directly from not towing the line.…

I know this question could be posted in the property section but I don't know people there, I know you people and would value any input. I know nothing of airbnb, really nothing, other than I keep hearing halve caught snippets on the news that Landlords are turning to this service. My question is, why? What are the…

Help to Buy
Remember the good old days when we always had about 6 threads on the go about Help to Buy instead of Brexit? Well it's being scrapped. Not a mention here - out with a whimper as expected. I remember Graham's analysis showing the increase in house prices that coincided with the moment George Osborne announced the scheme.…

UK is 7th most competitive economy in the world!
Not sure if this has been posted before, apologies if it has, but surely good news. We must have been doing something right, especially with all that EU bureacracy holding us back, just like Germany, Sweden and Holland who are above us in the rankings .…

May promises to help first time buyers
I wonder what it could be this time. Rent to buy your council house possibly ... any more per chance ? She seems to be preparing herself for raised interest rates with talk of 'helping savers' but can she raise interest rates whilst we are in Brexshit ? What will Hammonds November announcements be? (apart from boring)…

I find this shocking
http://england.shelter.org.uk/campaigns_/why_we_campaign/the_housing_crisis/what_is_the_housing_crisis As a baby boomer I was able to buy my first property in the south east with my wife at 25. Not a grotty little flat but a 3 bed semi. Don`t see a lot of that these days. Ok, we now have very low rates of interest that…

REMOANERS, get over it and back BREXIT.
Why are the REMOANERS, banging on about the exit vote.. They lost. There was no cheating like in sports, so please get over it and back your country. Just banging on about it is akin to a five year old behaving badly when they don't get their own way. You wouldn't find any BREXITEER, moaning about losing would you? They…

Just want to start a debate here. which would be a better investment over the next 10 year - a globally diversified stock portfolio (index tracker) or london property? based on a return on capital employed. obviously property has advantage of leverage so can help with returns however what does everyone think will be a…

Currently 1.235 dollars to the pound. At one point it hit 1.20!! About 2 hours ago. At 7 mins past midnight it dropped from 1.26 to 1.20, wonder what happened then? It did bounce back to about 1.235 almost immediately though.

Masses leaving UK as sterling weakens more and more
Soon Ben Brits will be leaving the UK to try to earn other currencies to send home for their families back in the UK:):) Ok bit of an exaggeration, but will all the foriegners still flock to out shores with such a weakening currency? Will the ones already here want to stay if the pound continues to weaken? Who is going to…

Renting since 1998, better off than buying
A fantastic insight into the mind of a HPC Fanatic. This is a guy who lost his missus because he refused to buy a house years ago. http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/227260-10-drop-and-rentings-already-cheaper/

It's as easy to buy a house now as it ever was!
You want to become a home owner? You need to save, you need to buy a house you can afford. That's always been the way. The problem is today there are more pressures on your hard earned money that you need to curb. Do that and you are half way there. What are these pressures? Well that's easy, mobile phone contract,…

More evidence of increasing wealth gap
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/30/people-born-in-the-1980s-are-half-as-wealthy-in-their-thirties-a/ Most people know this but many will contort their arguments to deny the reality. In the west, we have increasing inequality not only between rich and poor but between older and younger at comparative ages. This…
