Remember the good old days when we always had about 6 threads on the go about Help to Buy instead of Brexit?
Well it's being scrapped. Not a mention here - out with a whimper as expected.
I remember Graham's analysis showing the increase in house prices that coincided with the moment George Osborne announced the scheme. Good times.

Its only the mortgage guarantee scheme, not the equity loan
I don't think it was that popular anyway was it?0 -

It was the most unpopular part of the scheme around these parts because it could be used to buy used houses (how does that help supply etc.).
Interestingly, to me, Hammond says he scrapped this scheme because 95% mortgages were available in the market to those who want them anyway. If that's the case why do the government need to continue with equity loans for new builds?0
