Civil Service spouse pension
Hello again all! I have been given an amount of back pay for the spouse pension I was not paid since August 2019. Is £2632 a year right? Is it right that it has income tax and will have a gross and net? From amount of £7k it just went to £5k? Appreciate your advice. Kind regards jc

Have I done this right?
Hello. My mother passed away and my sister and I are named as the executors. We've decided to administer the estate ourselves. We've valued the estate and have applied for probate. The estate meets the requirements of an exempted estate (I half thought it didn't, but then realised I'd read a detail incorrectly) and so I…

Probate confusion
Hello, I just wanted some advice as I’m worried we have done the wrong thing and I can never get hold of the people dealing with our case quickly. My father had a few bank accounts when he died with different values along with his house etc so we have appointed a solicitor to deal with probate as it feels too complicated.…

What happens if both executors renounce?
Hi, My ex died last year leaving his solicitor and adult daughter from 1st marriage as executors. I have a 15 year old. It's a long story, which doesn't need telling here, but both parties renounced as executors. At the back of my mind this still bothers me... If there are no executors...what happens? Are there any longer…

Wills, money, and land abroad (Inheritance)
Hi everyone, This might be hard for me to unpack, but here goes... My dear mum passed away a year ago. She wanted everything to go to me, but due to the nature of her simple will, it all goes to my Dad, who is elderly and doesn't have a clue how to handle money. But he is happy for everything to go to me (like it should…

no reply from solicitor
Having obtained the Grant of Probate, I asked a solicitor if she could advise us on further property matters relating to the estate. I had an immediate acknowledgement of all the scanned documents I sent her seven weeks ago, but since then, silence. I sent a reminder ten days agao - still nothing. Is this normal these…

Probate Final Account and Distribution
Hello all, We are at the final stages of the probate. On the Gov website it is saying that you should send distribution and then send out the final account (FA). This feels like it is the wrong order to me? I am guessing the final account needs to be a hard copy and not sent by email? It would be nice if you could, but I…

Property- Joint ownership or common
We’ve been married 23years. My husband bought our property outright 1month before I met him. He holds sole title. We’re both now in late 70s and my worry is how best to secure my position if he pre-deceased me. We both have children from previous partnerships. He clearly invested more than me (I put in some £15k - from my…

Transfer of IHT allowance between married couples
I understand that when one half of a married couple passes
away, if their assets are passed in total to the surviving spouse the
survivor ‘inherits’ the deceased’s IHT allowance of £325,000. What happens when
the surviving spouse then passes? How do the Executors record that this spouse
now has an IHT allowance of £650,000?

When does an LPA expire?
Once a ‘Donor’ has passed away, does an LPA become a
worthless document as the Executors will take over all responsibilities?

Probate lowest price
Hi, my wife has had breast cancer and is diagnosed with dementia. A while ago I heard you can get probate for £95 on the Martin Lewis show. Does anyone know how I can get hold of it. Is this the lowest price possible as I can't do it myself as I'd find it to hard. I don't have a clue how to do it. Thanks. Andrew Penniall

Charity Will - who actually executes the will?
We are in our 60s and have never done a will so really need to sort this out. Cost has been prohibitive but realise now the costs to others will be worse if we don't! If we get a cheaper Will done via a charity, who actually physically ensures the money goes to those we name? Does the Executor then have to appoint a…

Bank Accounts etc
My mother in law died in January leaving a will. Whilst we are aware of some of her bank and building society accounts we believe that there may be others that we dont know about or cannot locate paperwork for. Is there a service we can use to ensure we can cover as many financial institutions as possible in order for us…

Gazette notifications
I have placed an ad (with P.O. Box) in The Gazette and it is now two months and one day since it was published. My question is do Gazette notify you of if no creditors have come forward in that period? Feels like I need some kind of confirmation before distributing estate.

Understanding will
Had a phone call off my sister saying that I have been left some money in a will she is executor for, she said that 3 of us have been left 5k each with the remainder (a very very large amount) being shared between her and my father, I now have a copy of the will (obtained through probate search) and none of this is…
