A tax refund came for my mum's estate this morning and is very welcome and was quick but the cheque has me as a MRS with my correct initial instead of MR against my name on the cheque to be paid.Would this be able to be paid in some way like that or is it just a case of ringing up HMRC to get another cheque sent out,I hope it doesn't involve a lot of work.I have no idea who input MRS

Is your late mother's bank account still accessible?0

So I'm referred to as MRS A Bloggs instead of MR A Bloggs0 -
I paid a cheque made out to my (still alive) husband into my account without a problem, although it was a relatively small amount.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. Just put the cheque into your account using one of the automated machines or the photograph method via the bank app - it will probably go through fine1

I've just noticed another letter that came last week same wrong title for my name they realise that I'm mum's personal representative but are calling me MRS instead of MR.I hope this doesn't open a can of worms.I'm hoping I don't have to end up sending them a will or the codicil that I mentioned in a previous post that I had taken the staples out of to prove who the executor really is. I've got a birth certificate and passport I hope that will be sufficient0

Given that titles are not a fixed part of your name, I'd agree it's another thing not to stress about.
Is it HMRC consistently mis-identifying you, or several organisations?Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
Honestly as a woman I’m constantly being referred to by a different title by various organisations - Mrs, Ms, Miss and even Mr on occasion (you guys have it easy😉) and banks don’t quibble at all. It’s the initial and name they are more interested in. So shouldn’t be a problem.1

I do wonder how this occurred though,I think it's likely to be the solicitor when they have been doing probate,as part of their remit for the scope of work for probate it says they prepare any necessary HM Revenue and Custom account in support of the application of grant.I haven't asked them about this yet due to the cost of sending solicitor e mails but this sounds as if that HMRC account has been set up wrongly with me being called a MRS instead of a MR as I assume a section of those forms will ask who the rep/executor is and that was input wrong on that part could this throw a spanner in the works for probate being done properly as surely everything needs to be technically correct.
The solicitor sounds like the person who could sort it out it's to do with the account that's been set up or would it be better to ring the tax office myself?0
