I’m waiting to get the grant of probate now, it was submitted about 6 weeks ago. Can I submit Mum’s probate application now or do I…

Refusing to show family deceased's will
A couple of weeks ago, one of our close family members passed away. He had been married for 40 years to his wife who died in 2021, and in the last 2 years has become "friendly" with another lady - who effectively has effectively run his life for him for the last 2 years. He has never had a will, until (allegedly) around 6…

Insolvent estates - future planning
I have reason to believe that both of my parents may leave behind insolvent estates when they die. I have read advice on this site and others that if this happens, the best thing for me and my sibling to do would be to "walk away" and not agree to be executors of either estate, leaving any creditors of the estate to apply…

Missing Will, terminal illness
My mum was taken in to hospital a few week back and a couple of days later her house broken into and the safe stolen containing her Will. Missing shares
A friend of mine’s partner/companion died earlier this year. Probate has been granted. She was told about 4 years ago that he had left her shares in his will, and indeed it is in the will as a specific gift, naming the shares to be given to her solely. The residue of his estate is shared equally between grandchildren and…

Changes to inheritance tax
My mum passed away and I am an executor of the will. I understand the threshold for inheritance tax may well change in the April 2024 budget. If we wait to get probabe until then, will any changes apply to us, or is it the tax rules at time of death that apply? Many thanks, I cannot find an answer to this anywhere online.

Raising inheritance tax to pay on property
