Grant of confirmation - Death of Executor
Hi, I have studied and read through a lot of the very helpful posts and examples of completed C1 Forms on this site and thank all those who have contributed. The situation is that the Will names two executors, one of whom has died, leaving me as the sole executor. Would the following deceleration be suitable for the Form…

Probate timescales and requests for further info
Hi all, this application was made 23 weeks ago. At 16 weeks, the registry was called and they said it would take up to another 3 weeks. At 19 weeks they were called and said it still hadn’t been looked at. Solicitor requested it be expedited and was told it would be. A week later, the same response. At 21 weeks they…

Online probate application - supporting evidence
Hi, any clues as to how/whether paper copies/originals of supporting probate documentation e.g. wills/death certs etc are linked up to an online probate application. Obviously would prefer to do an online application given that these appear to be processed more speedily, but concerned over how supporting documentation…

Can I use money I didn't need probate for?
Hi All, My dad passed away mid November, I've had to apply for probate to access one of his accounts. His estate is small and not many belongings, and no will left in place. I've sorted a separate bank account in my name, so any money from his affairs goes into that account. I've sorted a few bits out, and his car will be…

Which Tax ?
The father of my relative died 9 years ago leaving a small estate under the IHT threshold. This year a court in an Asian country ruled that the father was entitled to a share in land from a grandfather who died intestate 50 years previously. Advice before writing a will
I currently don't have a will and really want to put one in place. I am finding it hard though to decide who I want my money, assets to go to, whether this should be a % of my estate or a specific amount. I have seen both the good money can do and how it corrupts and changes people. I've also seen a fair few family…

Excepted Estate - utter confusion!
Hi. Dad's estate is worth around £850k (house 500, banks etc 350). Mum's estate went directly to Dad when she died many years ago. So my understanding is that we have 2x parents' allowances, including the family home, giving an IHT allowance of £1m. As this is significantly below that, does this count as an Excepted…
