Equin*** Share transfer forms following probate
After my mother died (April 2023) I am still trying to sort our the estate. The last of which is shares. Does anyone have a clue about how to fill out their share transfer forms. They are, without doubt, the most confusing forms I have ever seen. For example, it says: Holder 1/Deceased Shareholder Your full name Your…

IHT exempt carer travel
Hello my mother has recently passed away. I travelled 7 times from Australia over the last 18 months to care for her and give my sister a break. The alternate was respite care which we did not want. The first few trips I took paid leave and paid for travel, the last few I stopped paid work and alternated my time 50% with…

Early Inheritance and Inheritance Tax
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone can help verify whether my understanding of inheritance tax rules is correct. In 2022, my husband and I were gifted £200k early inheritance from my grandmother and grandfather. We used this to buy and set up our home. My brother was gifted the same amount but this was put into a Vulnerable…

Solicitor complaint
Hi all, I fully appreciate that this will probably need to be dealt with slightly differently as it is an Irish practice, but if someone could help me on the first step so I can get the ball rolling, I would be very grateful. My mum died in May 22, her solicitor's practice are executors, in Ireland, beneficiaries live in…

Co-executor won’t agree to house sale
This concerns Scottish law, although I guess English law would be similar. My sister died a year ago, leaving her two daughters (X and Y) as both executors and beneficiaries of her will. There is one small donation to a charity, the rest goes to X and Y. Most of the estate value is contained in the house, my sister didn’t…

Renouncing insolvent estate
As a named executor in a will, I made preliminary enquiries into two life insurance policies that would make most of deceased' assets. Apparently they were cancelled at some stage so there is literally nothing but a few quid laying around their home. Housing Association home and personal possesssion of no value.…

Paying IHT
Early days but thinking about how to settle IHT. Deceased banked with Barclays but they've advised me that they dont provide estate advances to settle IHT. Amazed that such a big bank wouldn't. Can anyone suggest another bank? Would interest rate be significantly higher than base rate? Estate includes a property of value…

Inherited property and SDLT
Can someone quickly clarify a couple of things for me. A bit of background first; I, along with two siblings have inherited my late parents house and they've both agreed to "sell" their share of the house to me. When doing the property transfer does the transfer have to be done to all three of us beneficiaries then in turn…

IHT 406 or 411?
Just in the midst of doing all the IHT forms, and I know the IHT406 is where cash ISAs go, and 411 is where the Stocks and Share ISAs goes, but what about a mixed Investment ISA - the statement shows a cash element with one value, and a stocks and shares element with a seperate value. Just to double check, do I put each…

Cabot debt and late Father's estate
My father passed away in January 2023 and I was awarded probate ( no will in place) in May 2023. In February this year ( 2024) I received a call from Philips and Cohen asking me to pay around 9,000 to an account my Father had. Grandmother estate - how to find out what's happening
In Feb 2023 my grandmother in law (I'll call her Mary) passed away. She had been predeceased by her husband by 30 years, and had been dating a chap (I'll call him Tom) for 24 years. Mary had 5 children. Mary's eldest child (Sarah) is my mother in law - my partner is an only child. Sarah died in 2020. Her other children…

Spouse onto deeds and Inheritance tax implications
Hello all, my situation is that the deeds to our house are in my name only. Married 30 years (and everything good thank you 😊 ) with young adult children. Gifting and inheritence tax
My husband, who has since sadly died, gifted £70000 to our son 4
years before his death. Most assets were in our joint names so his actual
estate for probate was £200000 so no Inheritance tax to pay. Has that gift now disappeared regarding Inheritance tax as
Probate has been granted, or is an amount taken from my husband’s…
