Android version of live photos?
It's probably the only thing from the iPhone I really miss. I was looking at an android version and Google said go to the gear icon in camera and choose motion stills or whatever it was called. Its not there on my phone. Samsung Galaxy S10. Another Google search said an app motion stills by Google. Not sure if I'm looking…

Join a zoom meeting using an RTMP stream
This is almost definately a NO but can anybody think of a way of JOINING a zoom meeting using an RTMP stream? We don't want to stream the meeting itself but one of the users will be presenting over RTMP without the use of a computer/smart phone. And yes, I realise that RTMP is one-way. EDIT. I may be answering my own…

Can I have a Smart TRV without a Smart thermostat controller?
We Have a combi boiler with a standard( ie not smart) wireless thermostat/timer programmer. We only use the living room in the evenings and heating it seems a waste of money and the standard TRV is a bit awkward to get to. Satellite dish tech questions - new home, aerial not working. FTA set up.
Hi all, I just moved home. There is a satellite dish and an aerial on the roof. The aerial cable does nothing when I try to install channels on the TV. I attached the aerial and tried to install. It says it's Astra 28.2e. It finds approx 400-500 channels of all sort. It doesn't find BBC but does find ITV (although not for…

Drawer runners
A few years ago, we put up a bedroom unit consisting of bedside drawers, and overhead cupboards, all in one big unit. When we were building this up, I remember that the runners for the drawers, were already in place on the side panels, and, I think, we just had to screw the sides of the drawers to the runners. They were…

Learning to Zoom
I have needed to go on for a zoom meeting on 3 occasions. There have always been problems with video and sound. Because I've hardly used it and not wanting to delay others I've never got to grips with it. Any suggestions for a way to learn, pay or free. Obviously, zoom is very useful. I have a Windows 10 laptop.

Phone number is different under 'Settings>About Phone>Status'.
LG K3 (don't be jealous) mobile, which lost its network signal for a few days. I 'chatted' with 'Three', and as part of their troubleshooting they asked me to check what my phone number was under 'contacts'. The number there wasn't the one for my phone. They took me through changing this (you can tell I'm at a basic stage…

Trying to buy a mobile phone online... when you don't have access to a mobile phone
Not sure if this is strictly a Techie topic, but I'm at a loss where else to put it. Okay, my mobile phone has broken and needs to be sent away for repair. Meantime I would like to buy a relatively cheap one to tide me over until then. Trouble is, buying anything online you are usually required to receive a text message…

So, I've received an email which I am in two minds to if its genuine or not, it professes to come from our local council. Its a mass mail without mail merge and is addressed to "Resident" but then I have had genuine letters from our local council with such a salutation. The problem is that its been received by a mailbox…

Avast
Sorry I haven't a clue which category, so here goes. I scan for viruses, malware, etc weekly. I have had Avast free for years, but of lately Avast full scan is taking four hours. Is this a long time in techie world. To me it seems a lot, but we are told to do a full scan weekly. Any suggestions please?

Looking for a Solution within Facebook
Hi This is the issue. I am associated to a 'hidden' support group on Facebook (it's only visible to those who are members) and you have to be invited to join the group. What has happened is, one of the long-term members has been asked to leave the group, because a new member, who needs the support of the group has realised…

Lost quick links on Edge new page Windows 10
after a recent update I appear to have lost the row of personalised quick link sites along the bottom third of Edge's new page. I also seem to have lost the nice landscape pictures on the same page (they have been replaced by an Edge logo centre screen). I know it's not a major issue but is it easy to get back the look I…

Apple cloud backup service?
If memory serves, you got 5GB for free with your Apple account? But you can buy more. Question is, can this extra capacity purchase be split between different people? So say you buy their 200GB option, can that only be for your user ID or could you share that 200GB with other people? Obviously there's only one account…
