A few years ago, we put up a bedroom unit consisting of bedside drawers, and overhead cupboards, all in one big unit. When we were building this up, I remember that the runners for the drawers, were already in place on the side panels, and, I think, we just had to screw the sides of the drawers to the runners. They were the ball bearing type, when extended, prevent the drawer being removed. A couple of these now need replacing, and I've no idea where to start. I've removed one for measurements, and all the ball bearings gone. I can't honestly see, how these held together. I've measured one, and it is 24.5cm long, when not extended. What I want to know is, what type to look for, and how do I fit them? Drawer first, or side panel?

Something like this...https://www.toolstation.com/steel-drawer-runner/p42754Using either toolstation or screwfix websites, search "drawer runners" and see what matches yours.Oh, and I think you have to screw to the drawers last, because otherwise you can't get access to the sides.

You can get replacement runners from the likes of ebay

As a rule, i would fit the runner to the carcass first the fit the drawer to the runner.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

From memory, the ones I got from Ebay were sold by the closed length and the width of the runner they fit into on your cabinet. I always fit to the cabinet first, noting which holes they use and which way up they are. Then there's usually one screw through each side of the drawer to hold the drawer on the runner. Can be fiddly but fairly straightforward in theory0
