Censorship?
An American colleague was messing around with my phone after he’d used it to make a call. He went to an adult website with the initials PH. The website kept coming up with the error “The server has dropped the connection” Long story short it appears that my service provider BT censors adult websites. I’ve no problem with…

17.3" laptop for £400 (ish)
My sister asked if I could suggest a "good" laptop for her. (Groan! I've no idea what spec laptops are on the market!) She'd really like a 17.3" screen, and "ideally" she has a budget of £400. (She knows I'll blow the budget! :D ) She wants it to work on multiple large spreadsheets, and general home/office stuff, and to…

Email, IMAP and Outlook...
Hopefully this is easy to answer. I use 1and1 (Ionos) for my email using an IMAP setup. The mail is viewed on a PC using Outlook. Outlook has decided to stop working - I can send but not receive email and it won't let me repair, or change the outgoing mail settings (although they are as 1and1 instruct). If I remove the…

3.5 floppy disk drive
I'm restoring an old computer and I need a floppy disk drive. When pricing them I have found that external USB drives are cheaper. Are they just internal drives with an adapter so that I can remove the drive and fit it in the computer? I need to be able to boot the computer from a floppy disk.

Any techies here that can help? Since I swapped to virgin media, my sons xbox won't work, it keeps cutting out and he has to re-imput the password. As it has happened so many times, he has now been locked out of games (? terminology) online. It isn't possible at the moment to have a wired connection. Virgin won't help as…

Speed Up Laptop
I have a 7 or 8 year old Emachines E525 laptop. An excellent piece of equipment. Seem to be getting a bit slow to load simple webpages now. I have done all the usual things to speed it up but there is no real improvement. It has a 500GB HHD which is probably getting a bit tired now I would have thought. If I put a 1TB SSD…
