Hi,

One of my friends names on messages changed to WH. He did not change it and we have no idea why? :A

I have changed it back to his name via settings, just curious how that could happen?

Messages? What sort of messages? Facebook Chat? Android Message/SMS?

Some Apps automatically change it to their initials to save space on mobile devices.

It is Facebook messages on my PC.

The initials are not his and I don't know anyone else WH :-)

Facebook messenger allows either one of you to change it. One of you changed it, if by accident, or on purpose.

My friend would not be able to change my Facebook settings and it is not a feature which I would "accidently" change.

Yes your friend can change how their name appears in your chat if they want too.

Yes, your friend can. They can't change all your Facebook settings, but in this instance, they are changing your nickname;

I can easily change how his nickname appears in my facebook and he can change mine in his.

What I do not understand, is how he could change his nickname in my facebook messenges? That is not explained in your link.

I never use the browser version of Facebook but on the messenger app if i go onto a conversation with someone and go into the menu and choose "nicknames" i can change both how my nickname appears and how the other persons nickname appears.

When i do this change it applies to all people in the conversation.

So whatever i set my nickname as in that conversation the other person will see me as that name.
