Faded windows key
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help please? I have an old packard bell laptop which I don't really use due to it being slow (and use my chromebook instead). Anyway, I'm thinking of using the laptop again to run the few things that a chromebook can't do (e.g. sky go) but due to the slowness of the laptop, was planning on…

Do we need to buy Office 365?
I am a volunteer for a local charity & my husband has just been selected for 'ad hoc' work a few weeks a year with a large UK company. Both companies send information to their 'staff' using Office 365 attached to emails. We can't open these attachments on our home computer as we don't have Office 365 & the companies say…

Connecting Freesat box to old satellite dish
We've just moved into a house with a satellite dish. There's no aerial so we're trying to get TV via Freesat. There are two cables coming from the satellite dish which end up cut off in the cellar without any end pieces. I'm sure I can pick up the end pieces for the wire cheaply but it looks as if I need to get an…

Andriod Smishing attack!
I've just had a security alert on my LG G3. It's reporting smishingexploit.A, which I find is something connected to sms fishing attacks. I've found nothing to remove it, so I've deleted every message, and it's still reported as found. So I've just competed a full factory reset, reload just the security app (Trustgo) and…

Yet another "How to choose a printer" thread
I've finally decided to replace our old Epson B/W printer and I've been looking at all the options, specs etc and I thought I'd ask for some opinions. We'll have a need for fairly low usage - our needs have increased lately, to the giddy heights of around 20 copies per month, so hopefully we can avoid having the thing dry…

Hitachi 40" Lip Sync
Morning all, I bought a Hitachi 40" TV from Argos in 2012. 3 years it's been a good servant but now it has the worst lip syncing issues. Within 15 minute of beginning watching, the sound is inevitably out of time and makes shows nearly unwatchable. I don't have the receipt. Do I have any rights to say that the TV should…

Malware help: windows.tekhsupport.com
A friend has just brought her laptop round. It's displaying a notice in a pop-up screen, allegedly from windows.tekhsupport.com saying that a Security Error has been detected and asking her to phone 020 3805 0586 for assistance. She hasn't done so, thank goodness. Presumably this is some malware? Does it have a name, and…

Laptop help please....
I don't know a great deal about technology, but my laptop appears to be malfunctioning. It's getting on a bit now, around 5 years old. When I open the 'computer' tab which displays disc drives, other devices and hard drive it appears there are two separate hard drives. One has around 300 gb, much of which is free space.…
