Noise-Cancelling Earbuds - Reccy Please

Options
I'm after some earbuds for my portable radio as my current Sennheiser ones have finally died on me. I usually spend around £20 but this time I'm willing to double that. Can someone recommend me anything please. They need to be definitely noise-cancelling as I need to block out any external noises.

:jMany thanks!

Hardly practical for non-bluetooth devices though.

Have you had noise cancelling ones before?

I ask because while excellent, I love mine, they aren't magic and don't cancel everything. They aren't great with high frequencies, things like voices or children crying. They are really good with stuff like aircraft engines, aircon units, road noise and the background hum of a busy room.

Also don't get confused with noise isolating which are passive and not as good. Noise cancelling ones are active and have their own batteries which are used to analyse the ambient noise and then produce the cancelling frequencies.

Also you might struggle with a budget of £40

I know the above comment will bring forth posts from people telling you how their £20 pair are brilliant but I can only speak from experience, I have had both cheap and expensive.

I used to spend a lot of time flying as part of my job, also on trains etc. and NC headphones are fantastic at dropping ambient noise levels.

I've owned, borrowed and tried many different ones over the years and the cheap ones were never that great. Eventually I bought a pair of Bose QC20 and they are simply the best I've ever tried but not cheap.

Of course each of us is different, our ears and the state of our hearing all play a part in what we will find acceptable.

(thats where the enclosed 3.5mm lead comes in handy) :p

A noise cancelling ability as the OP requested would be handier. So far as I can see those are just normal wireless earbuds.

Why do you need noise-cancelling on earbuds? Just buy ones with foam plugs, and you get complete isolation, as used in stage monitors.

    Soundmagic PL11 - £18.98

Used them in favour of expensive ones for years now, sound tinny at first but break in nicely after some hours.

Nice, but not mentioned in the sales page. Besides these have no noise cancelling circuits just noise isolating.

    No you don't.

As someone who has spent long hours on planes even the best fitting foam, or any other type, don't keep the noise out.

Yes, I know the difference. I would rather get some "white noise" music" which is better for blocking out sounds than music

    .................thanks:j
