I am looking for a laptop in the January sales on which I can do my photography. I will be putting Lightroom or photoshop elements on it, and would use a flash stick to transfer the finished project to my pc. I have looked at HP, Lenovo and Samsung, can you tell me which is the best one please? I am looking for something…

BT Parental Controls Pop-up nuisance - anyone else had this?
Not sure if this should be in Consumer Rights(?) but here goes: I am using an iPad, and since yesterday a BT Parental Controls pop-up has appeared out of the blue, nagging me to activate the service. I'm a big girl now, the sole user of my device and have no need for parental controls! The pop-up ostensibly gives an option…

Someone I know sold me a pc processor they had finished with. I had to buy a monitor and keyboard and it was going ok for a year. Then the person asked me if they could swap the soundcard I think it was as they are into gaming and they said that the one I had was not necessary for my use but would be very useful for him.…

Windows 7 PC - how to monitor broadband usage?
I am on a limited tariff (Plusnet) and my daily usage suddenly jumped from ~1Gb to 6Gb (yesterday) and 7Gb today. Are there any built-in tools to monitor the usage? Are there any free and trustworthy programs available? I tried Speccy that I had installed on my PCs. On my PC with dozens of tabs opened in two browsers it…

Programming a simple game... how?
I've got a great idea for a simple, educational computer game that I'd like to create. I'm under no illusions that it'll be my ticket to millions of pounds (or even a sparkling penny) -- I just want to create a demo for my niece and nephew to play. Just for fun, I'd like to eventually make it available (probably free) for…

Latest Opera version invites you to download even later one
Clicking on help > check for updates in Opera directed me to the latest version, which I duly downloaded and installed. This closed the version I was browsing on, but when the new one appeared I was greeted with this: (I've no idea why Paint 5.1 has suddenly started leaving a huge white area underneath my screenshots!) I…

iPod - album not playing in correct order. Why?
I know it's not an iPhone but i had a look where to put this & couldn't find anywhere. I put an album on my iPod. For some reason track 9 is first, then track 1, then 2 & then it runs in order like that i think. Track 9 is also the same title as the album if that matters. So i go in to iTunes with my iPod plugged in & edit…
