Where shall I put my money
Just wanted to get some advice on where to put my money. By April I should have £4000 in my ISA. Would it be best to lock that in a fixed rate ISA then put there stop my savings in a separate ISA or just keep the two together. Just any advice would help. Like. Said I will hopefully have £4000 by April then be saving…

deVere Group
While living in Spain, I've been approached by a Wealth Consultant from deVere Group offering 'free' financial investment advice. The Group has a credible website but I've come across quite a few negative web reports about them (mainly, it must be said from people they've allegedly mislead when being recruited to work for…

Nationwide Flex Regular Saver 1 6% vs Halifax ISA
Hi, Nationwide Flex Regular Saver 1 (6%) Halifax ISA Saver Online (2.1%) I have the above accounts and £400 to start with. From February I am planning to save £250 per month into the regular saver. I might just creep into being a high rate tax payer this year, but I might not. Where should I put my £400? Thank you :)

I came into the money as it was inheritance and decided to keep it with the investment manager in the portfolio. I have little understanding of the investments despite having worked in…

Savings Related Share Option Scheme
I've got a chance to pay into an SAYE scheme with the company I work for. Our FD has confirmed that the government has set a zero bonus/interest on these schemes at the moment, so my question is: If the share price hasn't increased sufficiently at the end of the 3 year term and I cash it all in, all I'd get back is the…

Short term investment advice needed
My Mum (aged 82) wants to move into sheltered accomodation. There is a waiting list for both places she'd like to live in and the only way to be able to ensure that she can move if anything comes up is for her to sell her current home and move into rented accomodation so she's ready when the time comes. We have a buyer for…

Leek United Regular Savings Account - interest rate dropped
Whilst updating my Regular Savings thread, I noticed that Leek United Building Society have dropped the interest rate on their Regular Savings account from 3.5% to 2.25% from 1st December 2012. As this is a variable rate account, this will affect existing account holders. I am not an account holder, so I do not know if…

Dilemma with bond maturing
We have a bond maturing later this month, 100k. Since interest rates are dire, I am seriously thinking of a buy to let property. We had a couple in the past, no bother with tenants but sold them to do other things. However my O.H. says that house prices are still falling and doesn't want the bother of it all. I still think…

Scams and Boiler Rooms: How to spot them
Ok so why am I starting this thread? Who am I to point the finger? simple. I used to work in a boiler room. In fact, I've worked in several. I now know how to spot them. OK to begin with, most believe that any company that cold calls you offering investments is a boiler room. This is usually true. Not always, usually.…

Why do people advise to invest in property?
Why do people advise to invest in property rather than savings account gaining interest? You could lose money on a house if prices crash but you know you will be gaining interest every year and still have capital intact if kept in multiple savings account?
