My wife and I both have fixed rate ISA Bonds, and have found that page three which is intended to show daily Historic Savings Rates clearly evidences wrong (& lower) rates have been used. Also rates have…

Shares - just a bit of fun
I'm sorting a share portfolio at the mo for my SIPP and was thinking about 'Monkey and his pin' and the thought often published that many investors sell their best performing shares (take the profit) and keep the fallers (well they must recover soon) and some say this rarely works out. So (as I say just for fun) I thought…

Global Resources Fund
Hi, As the market in the global resources has fallen to a level I personally see as attractive, I am thinking of buying the First State Global Resources (Acc) Fund, with a small lump sum. I don't have much exposure to oil / gas / mining etc and from my research I like the look of this fund. I do however see this sector as…

Governormoney - start date
Just opened online a 1 year saving account with governormoney. All quick and immediate. But I am confused by the fact it states "Start Date" as 13th Jul 2012 for the account. Today being 13th June, if I move money in today, does it earn interest from today or from next money?

Passbook trumps the internet
http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/back-future-savings-passbook-trumps-105014798.html A slightly strange line from the building society that recently bought Egg. But it plays well with the Daily Palaeograph and the readers.

Company Share Scheme - Takeover Issues
Hi, I joined my company share scheme. I was allowed to buy £1500 per annum of shares. The company then matched this purchase with £1500 for 'free'. This was tax deductible, so I only paid ~£900 for £3000 of shares. If I keep the shares for three years, then I have no additional tax liabilities. However, my company is…

SIPP or ISA???
I recently opened a Hargreaves Lansdown shares ISA with the aim of putting in £100 per month until I retire. However I see that their SIPP also has NO FEES (is that not peculiar?) when buying only funds! If I put £800 a year in (say for now) then am I correct in saying that £200 gets added by Hargreaves (via the…

Vanguard Bond Index Fund Inc Long-Term Bond (BLV)
I'm looking at this animal Vanguard Bond Index Fund Inc Long-Term Bond (BLV) to hide away a lump of my SIPP while the storms rage. Anyone any thoughts on why this might not be a good place to hide and perhaps think the Vanguard Lifestyle 20% might be better? I just having moved my funds from PPs to SIPP don't fancy…

In Praise of NS&I
We often, rightly, criticise providers for poor performance. Well let me tell you of one that knows how to treat it's customers. I cashed some Index Linked Bonds and NS&I cashed them two weeks early giving me no interest or linking because it was less than a one year holding. I telephoned, the agent sorted the problem…

Best way to save?
Hello all I'd like to ask your advice. I'm unsure what’s best to do with my savings. Currently I have two ISAs and one savings account that had a good rate but that has just expired. The rate on the two ISAs is pretty dire. So on all three saving accounts the rates are low. I haven’t got a great deal of money in them. Do I…

Hargreaves Lansdown and the missing Vanguard Funds
Is not the name of my new Harry Potter rip off novel! Its the subject of this thread. I noticed BestInvest offer some Vanguard funds in their ISA that HL dont. Namely the bond, emerging markets and pacific trackers. I didnt spot the US equity one initally but then realised they have it. I asked HL about this and they said:…
