I'm looking at global equity income funds and the newton and Invesco perpetual funds seem to have a cracking performance record from trust net, anyone got any thoughts on drawbacks apart from the annual charge?

I have used a few IP funds in the past, mostly their IP Monthly Income Plus & IP Income & High Income funds. Never had a problem with them, proved reliable for me.
For Global Equity Income the field is very wide, also worth looking at Ecclesiastical Amit International A, M&G Global Basics and in a rising market Neptune Global Equity although it was volatile when I held it.
For global coverage now I am currently using Investment Trusts so no current 'real life' experience of global funds.

Any specific reason for choosing Global funds? I ask because your objective seems to picking funds with global coverage
However, Global funds havent been chart toppers but steady risers so its always good to consider. So are you not looking at a mix of funds to get global exposure? You may very well have looked at other options but I thought best to ask.
What I do to get Global exposure is pick an Emerging Market fund that can invest across ANY emerging market, smaller companies in developed world and a steady global growth fund - yes, these are risky choices but I am investing for eternity
M&G Global basics is good but inclined more on Consumer durables and Manufacturing. M&G Global Dividend may be a good option - it picks global companies with historically good dividends thus stable houses giving worldwide exposure with a better shot at growth. It has been performing pretty well but is a punt being around for just 3 years
I recommend ITs as well - Aberdeen have a really good collection of funds and their monthly ISA or Share plan is good, take a look at them on trustnet. You can pick ITs from individual houses but expenses then pile up - this is the only reason for me to suggest Aberdeen, I personally havent invested but planning to use them for the OH's ISA

I have invested in an IP trust for a while now. I am not unhappy.0 -
With Neil wood ford surely half of the uk have invested in invest perpetual and not been unhappy.
My op was primarily based on the fact that these two funds seemed to be consistent top performers, though this is over the last five years or so.
I have a range of investments across many sectors and geographies, and put Newton Asian income into my ISA this year. The investments in these are basically funds I've had sat in savings accounts for a few years with a vague idea of a house move, not
Progressed and tired of getting three per cent. I was concerned that they looked to have have a eurozone bias, and I believe the euro will depreciate another ten per cent over the next year, but on review they seem to be underweight in this regard, and overweight on Swiss and other european non euro shares0
