In Praise of NS&I

We often, rightly, criticise providers for poor performance. Well let me tell you of one that knows how to treat it's customers.
I cashed some Index Linked Bonds and NS&I cashed them two weeks early giving me no interest or linking because it was less than a one year holding. I telephoned, the agent sorted the problem whilst I waited and told me how thy would correct their error. The following day I received confirmation of what they were doing and apologising for the mistake.
How refreshing. How professional. Well done NS&I.

................. immediately! That's the point. How often does that happen?
  • Most impressive - there are others who are reasonable at correcting their mistakes (Kent Reliance and the Pru in my experience recently) - but not that quickly!! Good for NS&I.

I believe that there are stats that show that a customer who has had cause to complain but feels that the issue was handled well is a more loyal customer than one who has had no problems ....

Proper old-fashioned service. Just like it used to be.

Seriously though, these guys used to be civil servants in the days when public service was something to be proud about. Old habits die hard.

Yes! Every company makes a mistake at some time or other, it's how they deal with it that sorts out the wheat from the chaff.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorn is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that she is pink; we logically know that she is invisible because we can't see her."
